NBA expected to shorten season to 70 games, 5 more games per team

The NBA is considering shortening the 19-20 regular season to 70 games with play resuming in July. Teams have played approximately 65 games apiece before the season was suspended. The potential solutions are “fluid,” one source said. Playing an additional five regular season games would give playoff contenders an opportunity to play for seeding, while lottery teams would also participate. If the pandemic doesn't allow the NBA to resume play in July, a relaunch in August is in play with the possibility of instead going straight into the playoffs.

They’ve been away from playing for a long time. You can’t just jump into the playoffs. They are doing the 70 because of money, though. Grizzlies lucked out, because of course.

The east 1-8 is set; milwaukee is locked in 1st

I am totally fine, it gives teams an opportunity to gain some sort of rythym back. While also giving any team just outside the bubble a chance to fight for that 8 seed.

I am sure if you pulled Adam aside and asked him who he wanted in the playoffs, he would tell you he wants Zion. But Adam has 29 other governors to work with, and there are not many others who would want more games than that.

5 tune up games for the playoff teams. Teams that aren’t in contention it really doesn’t make sense for them other than to collect some game checks

Why don’t they expand the playoff field like the NHL is doing? That’s still 12 games the Pelicans thought they were gonna get but won’t
