LSU still hasn’t had a player return a kickoff for a TD at home since the 1980s
Trindon Holliday took one to the house in Little Rock in 06 though. Probably was the difference in the game.

Edit: the one the other day about Vince Carter playing with or against 38% of all players in the 74 year history of the NBA is pretty crazy.

That's nuts.

I know Jerry Rice has been mentioned in here and I have posted this in a thread about him last year:

quote:

quote:

Rice was dominant in his 20s, but where things got crazy was his dominance into his 30s. That’s really where he put distance between himself and other receivers. His numbers after he turned 30 are Hall of Fame worthy on their own.

Career numbers to age 30:

610 reception, 10,273 yards, 16.8 YPC, 103 TDs

Career numbers after turning 30:

939 reception, 12,622 yards, 13.4 YPC, 94 TDs

quote:

Pro Football Reference has a detailed database that allows you to search by just about any possible combination. I did a search based on players 40 years and older, focusing on receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. For yards and touchdowns, Jerry Rice is the only player on the list with 2,509 yards and 12 touchdowns. For receptions, he has 185, and there’s one other player on the list: Brett Favre. In 2009, the 40-year old Favre caught a pass for a two-yard loss against the then St. Louis Rams. My guess is he threw the pass and it was batted back into his hands for one of those freak receptions.

When Rice was 40, he had 92 receptions for 1,211 yards and 7 touchdowns.

No receiver will put up those kind of numbers at the age of 40

Rice put up career Hall of Fame numbers by the time he was 30 years old.

Rice put up career HOF numbers from age 30 on

And that age 40 season is just insane

In 2004, Barry Bonds reached base more times than he had at-bats.

More Bonds: there were 415 pitchers Bonds faced and never got a hit against. Against those pitchers, he was 0 for 739. Against those pitchers he still had a .331 OBP. League wide OBP last year was .323.

Did I forget to mention the last 4 times LSU has been shut out in a game were all by Alabama? LSU was ranked in the top 15 all those games.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Jerry Rice yet.

Career wise, Rice is 5,000 receiving yards ahead of second place, about 200 receptions ahead of second place, 41 receiving TD's ahead of second place and 33 total TD's ahead of second place.

It's hard to fathom.

If Michael Thomas repeated his 2019 season for the next ten years, he'd still be 1700 yards short, and 84 TD short of Rice.

Derek Stingley only had 18 passes thrown his way in his junior season in HS.

He had 11 interceptions and gave up only one completion for the season. His coach said the completion was right before halftime and they were in prevent defense at the time.

During his 56-game hitting streak Joe DiMaggio batted .408.

During the same stretch of games Ted Williams hit .412.

Who was the only SEC school to have a winning record vs Bear Bryant?

Answer: Alabama...they were 2-0 vs Kentucky while Bryant was Kentucky's coach.

ETA: Texas A&M was 2-1 vs Bryant, but they were in the Southwest Conference at the time.

In 2012, German freediver Tom Sietas held his breath underwater for 22 minutes and 22 seconds.

Can’t believe this is legit.the record is suspect bc he was allowed to breathe in pure oxygen before going under. That’s way more oxygen than you’d normally get. But he also owned the record for holding breathe underwater without pure oxygen at 10 mins 12 seconds - which is still nuts

Yea. I had to look this up. And apparently that 22:22 is an older record for “assisted underwater breath hold”

quote:

Aleix Segura from Spain held his breath for 24 minutes 3 seconds, after breathing Oxygen as part of his breath-up, on February 28th 2016 at the 17th Mediterranean Dive Show in Barcelona.

O2 assisted breath-hold is Guinness World Record and a different discipline to the Freediving discipline of Static Apnea (which Aleix is also a World National Record holder in with a 10min+ breath-hold). In O2 assisted breath-hold the diver breathes pure-Oxygen for a period before the attempt and allows for much longer breath-holds than normally possible.

In 1990 Eddie Murray had the best batting average in the major leagues, but didn't win the batting title.

Murray who was with the dodgers at the time, finished second to Willie McGee for the NL crown. McGee qualified for the title despite being traded to Oakland where his AL average brought his season average below Murray's. George Brett won the AL title, with an average below Murray's
