From 1989 thru 2020, Texas is the most overated. They have lost -134.5 poll points when comparing their pre-season ranking to their post season ranking. Next is Southern Cal at -129

You aren't ready for this conversation but if we went by this as a metric I bet UGA is in there.

I do not think this is a good metric, BTW.

UGA has been accurately rated since Richt took over, if you're using preseason polls as your metric for being "overrated."

Preseason, postseason (AP)
2001 - NR, #22
2002 - #8, #3
2003 - #9, #7
2004 - #3, #7
2005 - #13, #10
2006 - #15, #23
2007 - #13, #2
2008 - #1, #13
2009 - #13, NR
2010 - #10, NR
2011 - #19, #19
2012 - #6, #5
2013 - #5, NR
2014 - #13, #9
2015 - #9, #24
2016 - #18, NR
2017 - #15, #2
2018 - #3, #7
2019 - #3, #4
2020 - #4, #7
2021 - #5, #1
2022 - #3, #1

I didn’t say it was an accomplishment, I said you don’t know what you’re talking about more or less

USC?

Uh we're talking all-time.

There's no ranking that doesn't have them in the Top 4.

856 wins
11 national championships,
13 undefeated seasons
39 conference championships
8 Heisman Trophy winners
81 first-team Consensus All-Americans
510 NFL draft picks, most all-time by any university
35 members inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame
14 inductees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the most of any school
USC holds the all-time record for the most quarterbacks (17) and is tied with the University of Miami for the most wide receivers (40) to go on to play in the NFL.

The Trojans have 53 bowl appearances, 39 of which are among the New Year's Six Bowls. 6-1 in BCS bowls...USC has the highest all-time post-season winning percentage of schools with 50 or more bowl appearances.

So overrated.

Outside of Notre Dame, it's Texas easy. In fact they are neck and neck to me. Neither has done anything in the last 40 years to deserve the lofty pedestal they're given. Exactly 1 title each in that time span with only a couple of short runs of extended success to back it up. They are vaulted to an elite level that neither has really been since the 60s and 70s outside of the Holtz run in the late 80s/early 90s and Mack run in the 2000s. Being a solid 9-3/8-4(maybe too gracious)on average isn't elite.

Hell of an argument. You brought up an 08 stat and countered with “we were talking about the playoff era.”

What a tard.

Oregon is super overrated for a school that’s never won a natty in its history

Who overrates Oregon? They’re an afterthought on the college football landscape except for a handful of seasons.

They’ve been ranked in the top 10 in the preseason only seven times in their history, and have managed to finish in the top 10 ten times.

The Big 12 formed in 1996 and Baylor has as many Big 12 titles as Texas.

The University of Louisiana at the former University of Southwest Louisiana at Lafayette that keeps trying to get everyone to call them Louisiana even though there are like five other schools in the system of which they are most definitely not flagship.

In 2021 they beat a team they had already lost to a month prior. If 1 since 1985 is underperforming I don't think UGA's 2 is exactly killing it given context.

Nice spin you got there, buddy. You play the schedule in front of you. Going 15-0, winning the SEC, and winning both playoff games speaks for itself. Winning national titles back to back speaks for itself. You can cope and come up with all sorts of bullshite qualifiers to discount it, yet I doubt you'd do the same for 2011 or 2017 Alabama.

The mental gymnastics by the Gumps is gold medal quality.

It hurts them so much to give the Dawgs any credit.
