People tend to forget that MLB banned Adderall the year Chris Davis went 0-54 and he was severely ADHD. That changed the trajectory of his career entirely
Ban Amphetamines and production decreases???
Hitler me shocked!

Jeremy Lin played for a decade in the nba and made $65mil, and it wasn’t because he averaged 25ppg for 3 weeks.
It wasn't because he averaged 25ppg for a decade either.

Steroids did wonders for him and Luis Gonzalez. Neither were EVER power hitters until steroids entered the picture.

A lot of people said Joel Zumaya, who was great in 2006, but I remember another Tiger, Chris Shelton from that year. He hit 9 homers in 13 games, was hitting .400 plus for a couple of weeks, and then ended up getting demoted in July. He got moved and played around 50 games total in the league after that.

Matt Flynn - 480 yards/6 TDs in MNF in 2011, that game landed him a big contract from Sea to be the presumptive starter in Sea but he continued to be a career backup.
Ed O as a Coach deserves mention.

I don’t know. He had killer hands. Real straight shooter.
Definitely wouldn’t leave you hanging.

Not sure if I've seen Josh Gordon's name yet. The guy was unstoppable before the drug issues.
Mark Prior is another one. Dominated for a very short time, injuries hit and he was gone.

Luis Gonzalez w/o PEDs is still a solid MLB starter for number of years. Basically Mark Grace.

Tim Tebow
If talking about just NFL career and peak praise from "experts", I would agree with Tebow being amongst the discussion.
Especially after that playoff upset vs. Pittsburgh. While playing the game in Denver, the Broncos were dogs by more than a TD.
Tebow threw for 316 yards (though under 50% completions), 2 TD passes, ran for 50 yards and another TD, and committed 0 turnovers.
He had a regular season stretch that season where from Week 7 through 14, Denver went 8-1 with him as a starter, where he threw 10 TDs vs. 2 INTs, and ran for another 480 yards and 2 TDs.
After that playoff win vs. the Steelers, so much buzz about him possibly being the guy with some more experience under his belt and another offseason working on his throwing. Then that following playoff game at New England where Tebow went 9-26 for under 200 yards and got blown out ended any hopes he and his fans had of him being an NFL starting QB.
Personally, I was rooting for him. Just didn't work out.

I thought Eddie Lacy was gonna be a stalwart pro-bowler at a model franchise. But he liked China food more than football

This is the best answer. The most extreme example of it I've ever witnessed.
