Texas and Oklahoma are the biggest money generating programs in that region. I wouldn't worry about that.

This is silly. Them joining the SEC only strengthens the conference. You wouldn't be upset when a game with Oklahoma is replacing Vandy or Kentucky on the schedule.

The conference is already strong enough. I don't know why we would support adding one definitely stronger program than ours and one potentially sleeping giant to the conference.

I bet you still pull for Bama and other SEC teams, who we directly recruit against, to win National Championships.

This is not something we (both LSU and SEC) should want and/or need.

so cfb is evolving into a system similar to the minor league baseball system? A, AA, AAA?
no, but there will be a few superconferences with 16+ teams (50-60 teams total) and those will split off into their own division. The rest will go into another division, similar to how it is now with FCS, I-AA, etc.

Stucks thoughts on UT OU

PROS:
-More money - would be pretty diluted though as adding a 15th and 16th team wouldnt go as far as adding the 11th and 12th teams did, or the 13th and 14th teams.

-Strengthen the conference - both fans basis are huge and serious about sports, the schools are committed to winning. Texas is a school that raises the level of competition in pretty much every sport.

-Keeps Texas and OU away from PAC and BIG10 - probably the biggest benefit in this whole scenario. It completely rewrites the powerlines of college football. Its like if republicans win the congress and then gerrymander all the house races to win them for the next 10 years.

CONS:
-These two teams have wrecked two conferences in the past SWC and BIG12. They, at least in the past, have thought of themselves as above other schools, they may come into the conference saying they are equals, but how will they treat the smaller/less accomplished members in 20 years from now?

-Longhorn Network - built in recruiting advantage and revenue stream. Even if they agree to share the money with SEC equally, they dont share the recruiting advantage.

-Erodes recruiting advantage LSU has in Texas, significantly.

Stucks determination:
I don't think the pros outweigh the cons, honestly I think the best outcome is that they go to PAC12 and start stirring up shite there. I think the BIG 10 can at least keep Texas in their place, but I dont think the PAC12 will. The only way I would consider it is if Texas completely dropped the longhorn network immediately, which I do think Texas would end up doing.

I personally don't see an advantage for LSU to have Texas come in, I suspect that A&M, Mizzou, Florida, South Caroline, and Georgia would vote no based on their agreement to block schools in states that are already represented in the SEC.

Texas is the biggest brand in college sports. OU is top ten in revenue. Every SEC team will make millions more with this move.

100% correct. ESPN and the horns made some dumb decisions. Their arrogance and me-first attitudes are what obscured their judgement. Now they both want to be bailed out. Frick that

Horns are a cancer.
They bring nothing to the table. Their stadium is mostly empty during games.
The only way they could add a net improvement in $$ is if ESPN is paying everyone extra just to take their problem off of their hands. But then we’ve inherited their problem!

(Just FYI - I have a graduate degree from there. I had to spend 2 years on campus. I saw the sh-t show firsthand)

We make enough money already. The cons outweigh the extra money, by a lot.

We don't need that extra money. We just don't.

Texas is toxic. I'd be fine with OU, but if they are a package deal, frick em both. SEC is already going woke, we don't need to add Texas. They destroy every conference they're in.

Clearly, the TV contracts would be re-negotiated as a pre-condition to their entry. In the new age of NIL, we may see a significant increase in the minimum stipend for athletes, to better address the anticipated disparity among players.

UT isn’t the biggest brand in Texas. Wake up.

How could strengthening the conference be proven.
A conference team has won the championship almost every year for a couple of decades.

If anybody here knows anything about the University of Texas, they should be staunchly opposed to this. Texas has an enormous amount of power that I think many of you fail to understand. If they don't get their way, they throw epic fits until they do. It's not like A&M who know how to play ball and contribute to the greater good. They have a massive endowment that dwarfs anything here now. The SEC does NOT need Texas here. I wouldn't mind OU and literally ANY other school in the Big 12 now but the Longwhorns are a cancer.

I think a lot of you see some kind of immediate relief in pushing Bama to the east but bringing Texas in puts a much bigger problem down the road. This would be a very bad move for the SEC.

A quote from 2020. And that is without OU and Texas.

Please. We've been down for a decade and still dominate every meaningful metric. Texas is the largest brand in college sports.

Money won’t be an issue

Texas alone will bring enough money to offset dividing the pie into more pieces.

The only issue is weather Texas will stand down and accept that they aren’t going to treat the SEC like they did the SWC and Big12.

Just facts. I actually dont disagree with some of the people saying not to underestimate our influence. Longterm it will shake up the SEC without question, so i dont really blame people who want to keep the conference as is.

What are they going to do, threaten not to play? We already have Alabama, LSU, Florida, Auburn, UGA, and now TAMU. The SEC is already moving on without them.
