Everyone is a Hall of Famer because the term means nothing today. When the guy with the most hits in a sport where the entire goal of the sport is to hit a ball is not in then it means nothing. Sure, let Mookie in. Why not. Let all of them in. Everyone knows who the real Hall of Famers are anyway so who cares.

I’m sorry for your loss.

He ain't the beginning of a pimple on the great Dickie Betts' arse.

Look I even say this as a Braves fan that hates the Dodgers, but the dude is a hall of famer. His Wins Above Replacement is consistently good and he’s a 5 tool guy. Helluva player.

His WAR is about equal to Rickey Henderson’s through their first 6000 plate appearances. He won’t play that long obviously, but gives you an idea how great he is.

He also has 7 gold gloves, has played at least 50 games at 4 different positions, and has an MVP.

This really isn’t a close call and his resume isn’t close to finished.

He was traded because they weren’t going to resign him. He only had a year left on his deal.

I'd have been livid if I was a Red Sox fan. Their decision not to re-sign him was crazy in the moment and has only been made to look worse ever since. Betts was young, talented, hard working, consistently healthy and already producing at a HOF level. Perfect 5 tool player who was only just entering his prime years. Of all the crazy contracts baseball hands out he was one of the few that you could say would 100% earn it (barring injury).

Betts was the player teams dream of guys developing into when they draft them and yet the Red Sox punted on him. If the Red Sox aren't willing to pay a guy like that then who the hell are they willing to pay?
