False
I’ll give you the top European leagues as better than MLS now. EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga, and Serie A and Ligue 1.
But having 28-30 teams, all doing decent attendance, has to count for something. The leagues in your next tier, whether in Europe or Latin America, have fewer teams and a lot of shitty soccer at the bottom of them. I don’t get the sense that any other country is able to maximize their match day revenues like ours. Half the crowd probably gets in for free in the worst Mexican stadiums

Bottom tier MLS is like League One in England
Bundesliga 2 is better than MLS
Much more technical of a league
MLS isn’t even a top 10 league in the world and to think it is, well is straight up delusional
Ummmmm MLS as a whole and most of it’s teams operate at a loss. Liga MX teams make bank off their tv deals.
MLS claims a profit bc it’s pyramid scheme with its franchise fees. That will eventually dry up.

I think SCH can answer this especially for the EPL

A lot easier to have 20 homes games than 41 lol
Even then wait till the new shine comes off Atlanta
That and Orlando doesn’t come close to selling out every match now.

Well it is once they reach a certain age
Not enough academies and 25 or so MLS academies isn’t enough

According to that Gallup survey, the younger the viewer, the more likely they are to name soccer as their favorite sport to watch on television:
Under age 18: Soccer 12%, Baseball 7%
Ages 18-34: Soccer 11%, Baseball 6%
Ages 35-54: Soccer 10%, Baseball 7%
Ages 55+: Baseball 14%, Soccer 1%
Eventually, that age 55+ crowd is going to die off. That's why the MLS owners say the demographics are in their favor.

Yea but how much of that percentage say they like watching the MLS?

Most people are watching leagues other than MLS

If the best players in the world come play in the US I will become fan. My issue with the MLS is that it is a minor league.
College football is inferior to NFL but it still remains very popular. I don’t think it matters as much as you might think.

Lots. Top tier soccer is watched worldwide, and it helps that players come from literally all over the world to play there. Plus European regional tourneys keep the continent connected so you have fans all over Europe watching.
There's a reason the some of the highest paid athletes in the world, like Messi and Neymar, play there despite the fact they aren't European.

i obviously do not know and i could be completely wrong. but i have some serious doubts people in germany are spending money to watch a soccer league in england. cause they have their own comparable league
and therein lies the reason why our sport leagues are all more valuable. they arent fractured like european soccer leagues are across multiple different countries and nationalities. if there was one, unified, euro league it would absolutely be the most valuable sports league in the world. but there isnt

For now.
Let's see what happens after the 2026 World Cup. If the sport gets another boost in popularity, MLS owners may decide that the time is right to take the training wheels off.

Lol
The franchise model won’t let them take the training wheels off. The system is the way it is to protect the shitty owners who don’t give a frick. MLS still pays some players what guys in the third division in England make. 2026 ant changing shite, MLS doesn’t have the domestic talent to be a top league.
The system in this country isn’t set up for success and pay to play is a big reason.

NASL was supposed to be a boom for soccer in North America. It was...briefly.
Then the ‘94 World Cup hosted in the US was gonna launch things. It did...briefly.
Brandi Chastain helped things out slightly, and girl’s soccer was relevant. The women’s league also had a feature article on yahoo today about how one of their players’ salary doesn’t cover her child’s medical costs. That’s a cry for equal payment apparently.
The success of the USMNT in ‘02 didn’t do a whole lot.
The MLS has grown impressively, but there is a ceiling to its popularity. Kids can play baseball and be the best in the world in this country. They can see the best in the world in person. Same goes for basketball and football. That is not the case for soccer.
If you want a growing sport, look at hockey. You have top draft picks coming from Arizona, Vegas, California, etc.
