Which is funny. Because baseball is the defacto sport of dictatorships around the world.

Well I see this has turned I to a pissing match.....

Pretty much sums up all the TD forum threads.....

Folks should watch the trends over the next 20 or so years. If I were in the football business I would be VERY concerned. Parents will be exposed to more and more "concussion injury" information and as more parents grow up playing soccer, they will encourage their kids to play the game.

Youth Baseball will always have a strong showing
Youth Football could go away entirely which will have a long term effect on football in general
Youth Soccer will only get stronger with each generation

....and I don't really care for either soccer or baseball at any level.

I see Football going away very quickly with concussion stuff. Which means the inner city kids will all move towards basketball or soccer, and a few baseball.

The new big 3 will be soccer, baseball, and basketball. Probably in that order in about 15-20 years.

Only a matter of time before people start suing colleges, high school, and youth leagues due to injury. I think soccer is gaining traction on all sports and will eventually move into the top 3

Kids sports interest are shaped by video games. Fifa is EA Sport second most popular game now after Madden. While baseball video games have gone to the shitter compared to what they were 10 years ago.

Soccer doesn't get a pass, but I haven't seen any youth sports concussion stats. I'd bet $$$ we'll see a mandatory headgear rule for soccer.

THIS provides good info on HS sports, female vs male incidence, and the dangers associated with under diagnosing injuries. Scary stuff......

What common sense tells us is there's a greater concussion danger for young people, concussions are under diagnosed, and they are not properly treated.

Edit to add...here's one chart:

Agree with this. FIFA has brought me and many of my friends to soccer. I hated soccer before FIFA. But I got FIFA World Cup 2006. 8 years later, I am planning to wake up at 6:30 tomorrow morning to watch soccer.

Have you seen half the shite 12-17 year olds are into nowadays? They're all self absorbed justin beiber lookalikes. It doesn't surprise me they're starting to love the queer sport more.

Unless you are a diehard fan of baseball or a specific team, baseball games are all pretty much the same boring thing. And absolutely no in game entertainment. Go to a NBA game and compare entertainment value. Not event close. NBA is my 3rd favorite league

The thing is baseball is still HUGE in Louisiana, where most posters here live. It's really not nearly that big elsewhere. I was mostly talking about here in FL, though.

is this a serious comment? i sure hope not.

I played soccer through high school until I graduated in 2006. I started being a referee for high school soccer last year. There's a lot more teams now than there were even in 2006. No one in my area had more than two teams (Varsity and JV, many only had varsity) and I don't think there were any JV girls teams back on 06. Now, most schools in my area have 3 boys teams and at least 2 girls teams.

Because little kids play soccer, then they get older and play grown men sports

Played soccer for 12 years (3 years club in high school) only because my school did not have football or coop for it. Never had a love for it, but it kept me in shape and came naturally. Still have no interest in the sport outside a couple world cup games.

Give me football, basketball, or baseball any day.
