Just don't judge MLS on the experience you get at an FC Dalls match.

Unless you are a diehard fan of baseball or a specific team, baseball games are all pretty much the same boring thing. And absolutely no in game entertainment. Go to a NBA game and compare entertainment value. Not event close. NBA is my 3rd favorite league.

Surround yourself with better company, man. Baseball games are great social events, as well as sporting events.

The NBA is one of the best marketing minds in pro sports.

Its all based on the logistics of the sport. NBA has 5 starters on the court and a good player carries your team a lot. Football has the QB which dictates so much of the teams success.

Its a lot easier to market stars.

MLB needs to hope Harper turns into the super star everyone hopes. He has the personality to be a Ken Griffey JR level star.

My company is fine. I can have a good time at a baseball game. I'm talking about the game entertainment itself. I used to live in Phoenix and I would go to Spring Training games every week in March sometimes 2 games in one day.

True. I just mean they don't get very good attendance so the atmosphere won't be anything like some of the better supported teams. And I always found FC Dallas' style of play a little slow and boring.

I'm not trying to discourage you from going because you should go, but you should understand it's probably one of the worst overall stadium experiences in MLS.

gotcha.

weird that the MLS team doesn't get much support while the minor league baseball team down the road is usually packed each game

Spring Training is a poor representation of Major League Baseball.

I find the game of baseball to be more intriguing than soccer. Though, I do enjoy soccer, as well. And for the games I've been to, I've enjoyed the atmosphere at baseball games much more.

Exactly. I can only name like 3 MLS teams. Sounders, Sporting KC (gay), and the galaxy.

DId they only sample kids from NY, LA, and the pacific NW?

Which is a good day in itself. Any time I get to attend a sporting event, especially a professional one, I enjoy myself. I enjoy some sports more than others, but I can appreciate most sports and for the skill it takes to play them.

That's my point. I can have fun at Spring Training games. I've been to plenty MLB stadiums. MLB is missing out on so much marketing potential.

Or every region except the South. Save for NC, GA, and FL.

I live in FL and most kids don't play or care about baseball these days.

I like baseball personally, but facts are facts.

I think its great for America. I'm not a huge fan of Soccer by any means, but why must we settle on this "big 3" sports mentality? With natural population growth, immigration and MOST importantly access to watch and play these growing sports, the American viewer is naturally going to change their viewing tendencies. Soccer and the NHL are poised to gain from that. The days of only the "big 3" being the only acceptable "real" sports are over. I say the more the better. Why cant we have a "big 5"?!

I'm fine with big 4. I love soccer. But I hate hockey with a passion.

The MLB really needs Harper and Trout to be great and be the face of the MLB.
Kids relate much better to a guy that speaks english.
As global as a sport soccer is, the US mens soccer team is full of americans that speak english, for the most part.
Donovan, Dempsey, Altidore, are the best soccer players in the U.S. and are actual english speaking Americans.
A kid can go up to them and ask them for their autograph and they can actually say back to them, what's your name.

Puig can't do that. THe MLB is full of latino's that don't speak english.

kids know who plays in the EPL and Madrid and Barcelona. I think their globalization and marketing in the US has helped the MLS become more popular.

it's hard getting a 6 year old to be patient enough to play baseball. It's not hard to throw a soccer ball out and watch all the kids run after it for 30 minutes.
Soccer is the sport every kids plays now when they are young. I'm sure everyone still plays baseball too, but soccer is what baseball was 15 years ago for kids.

Depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looing for the game played the highest level, of course it's a poor representation.

If you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere, generally more accessible players, and cheap way to spend an afternoon with the family.
