Source: MLBPA delivered its proposal to the league on Sunday afternoon.

ª Schedule: 114 games, June 30-Oct. 31
• Two years of expanded playoffs
• $100 million of total deferred money
• Opt out for all players if they don’t want to play

• Deferral would be ONLY if the postseason is canceled. Would apply to contracts of $10 million above (before being prorated). Payments would be in November 2021 and 2022.

• Either way, players would get additional salary advance during spring training camp of $100 million.

“Non starter,” is the way one ownership person responded to the players’ response. The good news; There’s probably still a week to figure this out.

In the players response, they defer money if the postseason isn’t played. Mire important, they threw out the sliding scale entirely. Long way to go.

That MLBPA seeks to protect salaries of players who opt out due to being high risk or having close family that is high risk if they catch the coronavirus is strongest hint yet that there will be players who opt out if games are played this year.

No play, no pay. fricking clowns.

14 team playoffs,

this is quickly becoming the NBA & NHL

162 game regular season works because the playoffs are meaningful

I love the Cardinals and always will, but I’ve just about had it with MLB.

Ditto me with the Astros.

I have gone 2 months without MLB and ya know what? I don't miss it. If they started playing tomorrow, I would surely watch, but I've figured out other things to do with my time.

If they cant get around to putting a season together this year, then frick em.

I could be wrong but this just could be part of the art of negotiation.

The problem with both sides is they need to quit negotiating in public. Stop leaking details and negotiate secretly. This is not 1994. Most fans aren’t really interested in who’s right or wrong at this point. We just want baseball or any live sports that’s semi big league.

It’s a bad time to try to be winning a PR battle, and unfortunately the owners and players are the only ones who fail to grasp this.

This is why Americans traditionally have hated Unions.

Unions used to represent the low salaried - now all they're used in American business is the special interest 1% groups like Pro sports.

And they just cost the fan. Owners pass on the ridiculous demands and salaries to the fans.

They want to get paid for doing nothing; while most Americans aren't getting paid for doing nothing. It's not some Constitutional right for baseball to exist. Sure you have a contract; but that contract is contingent on baseball actually being played. Same as any contract employee...work has to be performed.

Meanwhile, the NBA is moving toward a permanent December start to their seasons, leaving football behind to steal baseball's audience.

I thought the pendulum was swinging to the players and then they drop this garbage.

Why would any player opt to play if they're getting paid?

Particularly for those in a contract year - ignoring rona, I can't imagine risking future earnings for a stub season. I'd just say frick it, let's do it again under a normal start with normal spring training.

Same for me with the Reds, and MLB is by far my favorite pro sport, but I'm done with those bastards if they can't work something out. Piss on them.

Haha speaking for America on Unions. I know many in unions including myself. Also know my pay goes up, health benefits improve and pension has gotten better over the years too. So appreciate you thinking you speak for the majority of Americans but you really don’t know what you’re talking about.
