I haven't read this thread, just this page, so maybe it was discussed already, but that wOBA stat is not that surprising, and probably doesn't effect the use of the shift.

I think defensively, they are willing to give up that slight advantage of getting one base to eliminate the higher probability of 2-4 bases in one swing.

Much in the same way offensively that teams know that bunting w 1st and 2nd no outs does result in a slight higher chance to score one run, yet still do not because it decreases their chances to score multiple runs.

Astros should have a Red Sox/Yankees like run with these scrubs they have up. The A's (37-36) are the only team they play with a winning record till after the All-Star game.

If the Brewers pull off DeGrom would that make them the NL favorites? Would it be enough to hold off the Cubs?

I don't see anyone pulling deGrom, it will take more than most teams would be willing to give up IMO

All depends on what the Mets would accept, the package listed for DeGrom would certainly help the future of the Mets.

I think the Mets may move Wheeler instead of DeGrom/Thor

Hopefully the Dodgers don’t hand out a big extension to Jim McIlvaine and piss him off

I'm wondering what kind of contract Harper will get, I really think Machado will receive a larger deal than Bryce.

I could see Bryce signing for fewer years though in order to re-establish himself after this rough season.

I think Manny should get a higher contract but don't think that he will. Bottom line is that Bryce puts asses in seats and he and Boras both know it. I agree though that we could potentially see Bryce sign like a 2-3 year contract to regain his form from 2015 and hit the market again to really maximize his earning potential

I just want to know, if Bryce finishes the year with a sub .250 average, which team will offer him 25 million a year. He has been so damn inconsistent it seems since he came up. I thought his MVP year was him turning the corner.

Damn he's hitting .213?

I'm gonna agree with that anonymous executive from last week. Bryce Harper is overrated. The production doesn't match the superstar hype. Looking at his career numbers..

He's hit higher than .274 only twice in 7 years

He's hit 30+ home runs only once

He's never driven in 100 runs

He's a very good player. Excellent plate discipline and the ability to he a game changer. But I'd take Trout and Manny over Harper.

I was reading something that they think his troubles are, he pulls EVERYTHING now and the shift is hurting him. If he doesn't get the ball in the air he is an out.

Someone as good as him should be able to adjust, if he can't that is not a good sign.

Just saw an incredible stat on Trout -- he's reached base atleast 4 times in a game 12 times this year. He's gone hitless in 11 games

Dude is ridiculous

Trout rules. Here are some recent ways he has ruled:

- In his last 37 plate appearances, Trout is batting .696 with a .778 on-base percentage
- Combine all of Trout’s June together instead of just his most recent stretch, and he’s batting .448/.554/.776 for the month.
- Even with this absurd month, his OPS for the season has risen just 50 points because he was already hitting .302/.444/.663 through May.
- If you can believe it, Trout is outpacing Mark McGwire’s 1998 season in OPS+ (219 to 216), in which McGwire hit 70 homers.
- Steals: Trout isn’t lauded for them much, but he has 13 against one caught stealing this year, on top of everything else.
- Failure hasn’t been a thing for Trout this year: he didn’t get on base Opening Day, and it’s only happened eight other times out of 74 all season.
- As in the past, Trout hasn’t failed to get on base for more than two games in a row: a feat he’s managed his entire career.
- Speaking of getting on base, Trout is leading in walks (60) and on-base percentage (.469).
- Can you imagine what his slugging would be if he didn’t play his home games in a pitcher’s park? Even with that, it’s still a career-high .689 this summer.
- In case the McGwire note above didn’t excite you, just know that Trout is also on pace for the greatest OPS+ season, non-Bonds division, of the Expansion Era.
- Strikeouts aren’t a problem anymore, not that they really ever hindered him before: Trout has more walks (64) than strikeouts (60) in 2018

Dude has only gotten out 7 times over the last 8 games.

I think Boone made a horrible decision to remove Loaisga last night, kid didn't have his best stuff but it was good.

2 outs runners on second and first and he just struck out the previous batter, let him finish the inning. Nope instead he brings in Shreveport who prompt allows the 2 runners to score and then 2 more.

I fail to realize and appreciate just how good Mike Trout really is. I am asleep when he plays most of the time and don't get to watch him as much as I would like.
