Is Stroman a pending FA?
Mets might be trying to get the world for Thor by removing competing, and then turn around and trade Stroman for what Thor was likely to cost prior to the Stroman trade.

Gotcha... Who knows what the Mets are thinking. 6 games isn't insurmountable, until you consider the fact that they have to move past 5 teams.

They may be saying frick it and making a move where if they win this year, great, but are looking at getting a team together for next year. At this point I have a hard time seeing them trade syndergaard
