New York will acquire righty Lance Lynn in the deal, Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweets. Minor-league right-hander Luis Rijo also goes to Minnesota, Heyman tweets.
6:14pm: The Twins and Yankees have agreed to a trade that will send first baseman/outfielder Tyler Austin to Minnesota, per Jon Heyman of Fancred (Twitter link). Other elements of the agreement remain unreported at this time.

Well once again, the Yankees didn't really give up anything.

I wonder when teams will stop giving away players to the Yankees. Even teams in their own division do it. I can’t wrap my mind around it.

Didn't get anything that will help either, international money instead of Lynn I would have preferred as a fan.
Lynn is going to take over the role held by Warren... I just don't like this move, would have wanted to keep Warren and just trade Austin for the international money

I can see a fan not loving all the moves, but they are getting players that they want, and not giving up any prospects. He's giving up those guys at the end of the roster. That's good work.

So they added another #4 pitcher, to go along with all the rest of the #'4's they have besides their Ace.
Your going to have to out pitch the Astros before you get to the pen. a bunch of 4's aren't going to do it.

I'll wait for someone to tell me how Lynn will be an upgrade over Warren.
I don't mind giving up Warren or Austin, but I don't see how Lynn is an upgrade and while it is a wash on money as the Yankees are only paying half of Lynn's salary and the M's all of Warren's I don't see how these moved improved the team right now.

Lynn's numbers are close to his career marks over the last month. He was noticeably fatter earlier in the season after signing late.
Lynn has cranked out 30 starts of sub 4 pitching every year besides his TJ season. He's pitched in multiple postseasons and has won a World Series.
Warren has started 1 game over the last three seasons and you want to know how that's an upgrade

He has an over 6 ERA in July.
15 walks to 19 K's in 23 innings too, his command is still shite and that's what he lives off.

quote:Lynn is also not starting, he will assume the role that Warren had with the Yankees. Lynn is not the pitcher he was 3 years ago before TJ. He doesn't look like the pitcher he was last year for the Cardinals either. So not really worried about what he did 3+ seasons ago.

Lynn has a 6+ ERA over the last month, not sure how that is back to his career marks. He had a great June but has been atrocious in his July starts.

The good news is he has plenty of experience out of the bullpen in the postseason, as well as spot starts after relief appearances in the postseason.

3.68 ERA 1.45 WHIP over his last 4 starts. Career 3.54 ERA 1.32
He's trending in the right direction considering he had a near 9 ERA at one point this season. I dont think he's "good" but there isnt much SP available as is and you only have to give the Yankees 5 IP

Not yet. If they trusted Adam Warren to start if need be they would've just kept him. It's pretty apparent dont you think?

Good points but there are multiple layers of these trades. Helps with tax purposes and also clears some spots for 40-man roster. Some of the young players they traded wouldn’t have been protected for Rule 5, so might as well trade them for a rental to help with postseason run

Doesn't help with tax, money came out to a wash I believe. Yankees are paying half of the 4.5 left owed to Lynn and M's picked up all of Warren's remaining deal.
Clearing Warren and Austin for Lynn cleared 1 spot on the 40m. As I stated, I would have preferred had the Yanks found a way to keep Warren and trade Austin for international bonus. Lynn replacing Warren in the bullpen is a downgrade imo
I do expect the Yankees to grab a cheap OF like Granderson before tomorrow

Will the dire Cueto news convince the Giants to become sellers?
Glad you asked!
No.
Will the dire Cueto news convince the Giants to trade Bumgarner?
Stop it.
Cueto likely to have TJ surgery. I wasn't sure wtf the Giants were doing in the off season acquiring has been superstars but apparently they still can't admit to themselves they should be sellers. I hear Matt Harvey is available...he used to be really good.

K
I said the last month bc I was looking at his past 28 day stats on BR. Not sure how else to illustrate the improvement to ya
Also, Lance Lynn Career vs Red Sox:
5 starts
30 IP
1.80 ERA
.211 Opp BA
He's also bringing the 3rd highest GB rate in the AL

do you understand the concept of swingman who can start a game, if need be? The insurance is worth something to a contender. They know and saw enough of Cessa, German, Warren to know they dont want to turn to those guys. You can turn to Lynn if one of the 5 goes down and in the meantime he can be your swingman
arent you a yankee fan?
