Because they could easily grow ahead of schedule like other teams that have rebuilt and be ready to contend next season.

Lets say they trade Gore, Urias, Baz, Naylor, and Potts for Thor.

Tatis and Mejia would still be in the high minors ready to contribute with Hosmer, Myers, Margot, Renfroe, and Villanueva on the team.

The staff would have Thor, Lauer, and Lucchesi with Quantril, Morejon, Espinoza, Paddock, and Allen.

Thats still a loaded system, but it would be an organization with a legit ace.

You do that in a heartbeat.

I guess that makes sense to a degree. Not all of the prospects will pan out anyway.

With an organization like SD that has struggled to do anything of significance for the last 13 years I remain skeptical that the moves they make are the correct ones.

Crasnick:

I keep hearing the #Braves as a team that's monitoring Mike Moustakas closely.

Check that. Here’s Crasnick’s next tweet:
quote:

I checked further on this. The #Braves interest in Moustakas is minimal at best. They're happy with Camargo at 3B, and the deadline focus remains pitching. There's also the question of how Moustakas would adapt to a bench role. Barring an injury in Atlanta, there's no fit.

They are that loaded it won’t affect their future

SD shouldn’t be in a rush.

Easy to say. Not realistic though

Is Bird that bad of a bunter that he couldn't have challenged Romo at third? Especially since Andujar got a bunt single the next AB

#Brewers, #Twins already discussing the Minnesota infielders, and Twins RHP Kyle Gibson could be included if a larger deal materializes. Gibson has thrown 7+ IP in six of his last 10 starts -- the sort of reliability the #Brewers need right now. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Sources: #Phillies, #Indians are among most serious suitors for #Orioles CF Adam Jones. Remember that Andy MacPhail, now #Phillies president, acquired Jones as Baltimore GM in 2008.

Wonder who picked him? Cubs, Yankees, Brewers, or another team.

Source says Yankees are "heavy in the mix" for Happ, though no deal is done. Brewers - who lost Brent Suter to a torn UCL - could still be in play among others. Sounds like Blue Jays could be assessing offers, though it remains to be seen if those offers are final or not.

Severino, Tanaka, CC, Happ, Gray.... would love to see Cessa get another opportunity though.

Interesting. I wonder if it’ll be for Happ or Dozier/Escobar.
