Heyman:

Jays originally sought Clint Frazier or Justus Sheffield for Happ. That was when yanks saw happ price as too high. Can’t see nyy doing that for rental, and they’ve offered others. Still talking. Brewers also interested. M’s, too. Maybe cubs, others.

If the O's fail to trade anyone else was this deadline a success or a failure?

I don't know what the point would be of trading Schoop, Gausman, Givens or Bundy. All of those players values are literally at its lowest points. It would be the classic case of selling low which is probably why so many teams are interested.

Edit: The only player it makes sense to trade before the deadline is Adam Jones.

I think both in a sense. They got pretty decent returns for Manny and Britton. Bundy and Gausman is under control right now, so even if they didn't trade them away...they still would have the offseason and all the way up to next trade deadline to make a move. Hopefully both will improve in that time frame. Schoop is controlled through next year and I still believe he could bring in a decent return...if not before the deadline, prob. in the offseason. His stats are nowhere near the numbers he put up last year but he is slowly coming around.

Still think the Astros need to trade for a bullpen piece. Rather them make a move now than later. They shouldn't sit pat IMO.

Someone will take a chance on him, he is still fairly young right? Like 30/31

Maybe as a bullpen guy but I just don't see him pitching on the big league level in the near future. He is still fairly young but his mechanics are all out of whack.

I agree. We all know they have the team that can win another World Series but with Boston and New York being very good this year....it wouldn't hurt to strengthen one of their very few weaknesses and improve their chances to win the AL.

Soria for JD Davis. Take Avilan too - he's a good situational lefty.

“Hmmm...we’ve got a great bullpen, a shallow starting rotation, and a few massive holes in our lineup mainly in the middle infield. So let’s trade for bullpen arm!”

You're shortening the game so you can win with lesser starting pitching. It's not like this is some kind of new trend. The Royals did it and teams have been following that suit ever since. And with as much success as the Rays have been having this year bullpening, you'll probably see more and more teams gradually doing it to counteract the exorbitant price for starting pitching.

The deadline isn't over either. I find it funny that if it's not a big move right away, people over react to the smaller ones. There's still time.
