Exactly. It’s a good move. It’s not like they’re giving up anything special. This is a tough crowd. It’s not like Britton has one foot in the grave and his velocity has been trending upward. With what it cost to get him, the Astros should have made this move. I’m willing to bet that making sure the Astros didn’t get him played a part in the Yankees making this move.

I can’t believe anyone would be crying over Dillon Tate.

ehhhhh. There are some massive red flags about britton that make him pretty untradeable imo

and dillon tate is a fricking nobody in the Yankees system.

You question the direction but he literally means absolutely nothing to the future

Britton isn't going to help anyone, Britton is living off his reputation right now

11 IP 2 ER in his last 10 outings. He's been pretty damn good outside of 1 outing this year

Well he’s not untradeable and there was a market for him. All by contenders. He just got traded for a mid level prospect and 2 nobodies. Even if he doesn’t work it, they didn’t put a scratch into their farm system.

Not sure what the fuss this fuss is about.

dont think the fuss is about what was given up. I ty8bk the fuss is about this probably being the move the Yankees make unless the mets go full on mets and trade degrom

The Yankees need starting pitching.

They have a clear need for another starter. I highly doubt they’re done and I think it’s silly to think this was the move that would put them over the top.

they just shorten the game even more for their starters when they make a move like this.

Warren-AJ Cole-Holder-Robertson-Britton-Green-Betances-Chapman

might be forgetting someone but that's the best bullpen in baseball

I didn't say they were done. They are going to bring in a starter. But unless degrom is made available, this is a pretty weak market for a starter

Zach Britton's sinker, June -- July

Avg. velo: 93.8 mph -- 95.3 mph
GB rate: 52.2% -- 80.0%
Whiff rate: 28.1% -- 42.9%
K%: 13.9% -- 25.0%
BB%: 19.4% -- 2.5%
wOBA allowed: .402 -- .211

Id say Britton is trending upwards

quote:

Full list of lefty relievers who have thrown a sinker over 95mph since July 1:
Zach Britton (31)
Jake Diekman (12)
Scott Alexander (10)
Andrew Chafin (1)

I’d trade for him, especially since the price is probably low.

No you just insuinutated that acquiring Britton was their big move. As Lester pointed out, they’ve already shortened the game. Some as underrated as Happ can pay dividends for them.

They have the assets to make a move for Archer. Hell they have the assets to trade for almost whoever they want. Whether they nut up or not is a different story.
