Cabrera with his season would bring back prospects, while not much he would bring back something as would Familia

I just think the Mets are stupid not trading a guy with only 2 years left on his contract after this year. I just think gambling on the team with the second worst record in the NL to turn it around in just two years is a dumb move.

I agree with both of y'all -- I don't think the Mets should blow it up yet, they're still pretty talented. They need to trade Wheeler for a ML-ready bat and ride it out next year.

If they're in this same position next year then I think they should start thinking about moving deGrom. Syndergaard is still young enough to ride out a rebuild and contribute when they're contending again.

Yeah having DeGrom under contract for multiple years gives them time. Assuming he doesn't fall off the face of the Earth he will be vaulable this off-season and next year as well. So if they feel they won't be competitive then they can move him later.

Mets are working to finish a trade of closer Jeurys Familia. Oakland among the team with interest; Cubs not involved.

Source confirms: #Athletics working to get Familia from #Mets. No deal in place. Other teams might still be in mix. Interest from A’s first reported by @susanslusser earlier today.

The #Athletics had interest in Jeurys Familia, as @susanslusser reported. But apparently they’re not willing to take on as much money as another club in the bidding.

The Mets trade of Jeurys Familia to Oakland might not be official until tomorrow -- and Wilmer Flores would remind you that a trade ain't done till it's done. But he's headed to A's barring snag

Hand and Familia have already been traded. Time for the Braves to get busy on the bullpen market
