Think they could get someone to take Verlander or is he pretty much dead in the water with that contract?

I feel like the Dodgers do a good job of going for it without losing sight of the long term.

Dodgers have had the financial flexibility to cover a lot of mistakes.
Now they have a genious in Friedman and an endless bank account. It's really cheating.
They are paying $80MM to people not on their team. That's more than Friedman's entire payroll at his last job.

The Dodgers need some Leake in their life.

I'm glad the Cubs didn't pay that price. And they apparently never were.

Are the Blue Jays loaded in their farm system? First Tulo, now Price.

They do a good job drafting and signing international talent. I mean they traded for Dickey and it didn't set them back at all.

If I was a Dodger fan I think I would want Wood and Urias over Price going forward.

Seems like a waste for a rental. I can't see Price re-signing there.

Sometimes you have to try and win it all

@Ken_Rosenthal: Official: Price from #Tigers to #BlueJays for Norris, Labourt and Boyd.
Jays definitely still have the pieces to acquire aNo.2 arm

Living in a van in Detroit is probably not a good idea.

Late to the party, but I love the Hamels deal for the Rangers. They didn't give up any of their top three prospects, instead giving the Phillies a bunch of B/B+ prospects. Chi Chi and Gallo were the two non-starters, and they managed to keep Mazara in the barn as well. It's not like they gave up nothing, but Hamels is signed for three year, and they now have a Yu-Hamels-Perez-Holland rotation.
Alfaro is a power-hitting catching prospect who already has injury problems and has only a passing familiarity with the strike zone. I think with Gallo, the Rangers don't really need two free swinging power prospects. He'll fit better in a different system.
Everyone goes on about Jake Thompson, but the guy is sporting an ERA north of 4.50 in AA. I know ERA isn't everything for a prospect, but geez. You'd like to see him be able to get some hitter out. Given the rotation, he was expendable.
I'm actually high on Nick Williams, but he's a lesser version of Gallo, and Mazara was still ahead of him in the Rangers system.
This is why you have B/B+ prospects... to trade them and make them turn into a star player. The rangers gave up some redundant talent in their system (and it really puts a lot of eggs in the Gallo basket) and they gave up a big-name pitcher who hasn't really done squat yet. I think they gave up future MLB players, but not any stars.

The Rangers have Gallardo. Hopefully the Jays are still interested in him as a number 2.

Detroit should start Norris, get Miggy back, then make a run at that WC2 slot.
A Norris vs Price playoff would be ironic

That's a really good haul even though I find Norris overrated. Two starters and another power lefty.
