They aren't doing a whole rebuild though. They are looking to contend in 2016 before Miggy and the rest of that roster get too old. I believe Dombrowski has straight up said they are looking for pieces to help next year. So Wood seems like a great fit.

Rumors now swirling that Rangers are looking to deal Gallardo to the Jays.
eta: Likely targeting Max Pentecost, a catcher they couldn't sign back in 2011. Might lessen the Alfaro blow.

Would make him a bit cheaper. I'd imagine some picks would come with that as well. We'll see. I doubt Rangers could get him for just Gallardo if he was healthy.
