They have an emotional attachment to Appel. I would too if I passed on Bryant for him.

Not completely shocked

Dude takes one hell of a cut and his stolen base and % are way down. He's been getting up real slow on those all-out swings where he falls to the ground.

But defensively, the guy is still making great play after great play.

I am so confused. Seeing possibly Danny Salazar + Moss or Brantley.

They get shut out twice in a row by Reds pitching (sans Cueto) suggests that the Cards might need a bat.

Right, see Moss/Brantley.

But not exactly what I was hoping for, Indians have no desirable bat to trade for available, and you only get another OFer if Holliday's MRI tonight was bad and he's out for a long time/season which could be the case.

They didn't want one of those Cargos or Jay Bruce?

I still say the Jays got the steal of the deadline with Tulo.

Whoa -is that who the Cards got? Brantley? That's a strong pick up. He's pretty young, cheap and signed for a few years. Good player. I can see why the Cards would like him.

I'd take CarGo for sure over those guys, but who knows.

No trade as of yet and this guy is just an SBNation MLB reporter so who knows how legit he even is.

Holliday's MRI was tonight, so could be bad news there if these rumors are to be believed.

No, saying Brantley isn't what we need, we need power. He isn't that.

Brantley is having one of the best under the radar seasons of anyone in the Majors. Dude has a .380 OBP with an absolutely incredible 46 walks to 29 K's.

I also don't think the Indians are willing to move him, or he'd be an extremely high commodity given his season this year, and signed through 2018 at a very very good price (5m this year, 6.5m in '16, 7.5m in '17, 11m club option in '18).

Fair enough.

Didn't think they would move him anyway, just thought you was cold on him in general. Dude is an unsung hero imo
