They got Hamels and kept Gallo, Chi Chi, and Mazaro. That's pretty good.
Also, if shite doesn't work out. They can flip Hamels over the next couple years for a similar package.

Banking on Yu to be the ace for 6 or 7 years?
ETA: Dat guy is only signed thru 2017.

Yea, no. Still have Mazara, Gallo, Brinson, plus Dillon Tate and Michael Matuella. The Rangers are stacked.
The 2 that hurt the most are Nick Williams and Jake Thompson, but Thompson became expendable with the draft this year.
Matt Harrison was included for money purposes. He had a pretty large contract.

Maybe that's why he was crying.

Yu/Hamels for 2 years sounds pretty good though in that division.

Blake Trahan already one of the best prospects in the Reds farm

I'm actually pretty happy with this. Offloading Harrison and getting the cash is a pretty money savvy move. Prospects are just that... Unproven at the next level.

Have everyone healthy and get some bullpen help, we should be back in the thick of things.

Not only that, Jake Thompson has been struggling this year. And while I have been high on Alfaro, I have my doubts that he ever becomes a major league catcher and his bat was not up to par this year.
We overpaid, definitely. But this is also not a rental and the guy did just throw a no-hitter in his last start. Next years rotation looks pretty damn good as well.

I can't wait until you're wearing Blake Trahan shirseys to casual Fridays.
