Passan: The Tampa Bay Rays are acquiring right-hander Freddy Peralta in a trade with the New York Mets, sources tell ESPN. Rays get their starter, who joins Drew Rasmussen, Shane McClanahan and Nick Martinez in one of the American League's best rotation. First on news was @WillSammon.

Pirates: “How much for Doval?”
Cashman: “Two prospects.”

[Passan] The Padres have told teams that if you want access to Mason Miller, then nobody is off limits in your organization

Here’s what I don’t get about the Tigers trading Tarik Skubal. From what we had been hearing the Tigers hadn’t started calling teams on Skubal yet as of Saturday morning. Did they accept the first offer they got? If this was available Saturday night i promise you the Dodgers would’ve still offered this Monday. Why now? Someone tell me one possible good reason to not keep making calls and gaining leverage until as late as possible. I get he’s a rental. It’s honestly less about the specific package and more about the fact that I DO think they could have done better simply by…. Making more calls.

His power has been a surprise this year and if he keeps it he will do a lot of damage at Yankee stadium

Are the Yankees moving Rice to catcher? That’s the only way this makes sense even if they are assuming Stanton won’t return.

I imagine they are going to platoon Garcia and Goldschmidt or Stanton. It’s a weird fit for sure. Don’t think there’s any way they are moving Rice to catcher

Trading to create more platoon situations in not a winning formula

Stanton’s presence is a boat anchor for them from both a financial and roster construction standpoint IMO

Passan: The Chicago Cubs are acquiring right-hander Kevin Gausman in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, a source tells to ESPN. The Cubs have sought a playoff-caliber starting pitcher all deadline, and now they've landed one. First on the news was @Ken_Rosenthal and @MitchBannon.
