Odd.
They have lost 9 of their last 11, but are still in a wild card spot.

An MLB manager getting fired because things outside of his control result in the team not meeting extremely high expectations is a tale as old as time.
I'd take him in Boston to replace Will Venable as bench coach tomorrow.

Royals players Whit Merrifield, Andrew Benintendi, Hunter Dozier, Cam Gallagher, MJ Melendez, Brady Singer, Brad Keller, Kyle Isbel, Michael A. Taylor and Dylan Coleman will be placed on the restricted list for the four-game series in Toronto, per manager Mike Matheny.

So stupid.

The Yankees just aren't very good at baseball presently. Houston will sweep the double header coming out of the break and pass them in standings.

What a disgrace. Once again, if the league had any semblance of a backbone, they would make the Blue Jays play in the US or forfeit until their government gets their shite together.
Unfortunately, Rob Manfred lost his testicles years ago and will never do that.

But by doing nothing they create no controversy. The Canadian government looks bad, and that doesn’t matter to the league.

Not sure what is funny. Tonight would be their 6th loss in 9 games.
Houston could very well be 2 games back in the loss column when we wake up in the morning.

Yankees are playing their worst and their 5-5 in their last 10. They are a good baseball team but they are not perfect. Even if they lose tonight it's 1 game out of 162 and they still have the best record in baseball.
Houston is playing well currently, so are the Mariners... eventually they will slump again as well after both had rough starts.

Hopefully they rip off 15 wins in a row, decide not to sell at the deadline, and then win the World Series.

Believe me, as a Reds fan, I’m not holding my breath. We just made a very Cincinnatish error as I type this.

WAR is for nerds
Ive gone back and forth on this one mentally so many times.
WAR is not perfect to say the least. And you really have to compare WAR between positions and pitchers in a vacuum, with catchers on the side. Also WAR in a small sample size is a bit worthless, but the larger the sample size the better it is.
At the end of the day, its the best worst solution. Kind of like capitalism and democratic republics.
Its not that those versions of politics and economics are the best solutions from various solutions that have worked throughout recorded history. Its that those solutions, throughout history, are the ONLY things that work.

But losing to one of the worst teams in baseball? Not a very good look for the Yankees.

The Yanks will be fine. They honestly need a rough stretch to appease the baseball gods. Nasty Nestor winning the Cy Young would guarantee that they lose in the ALDS.
I don't make the rules, but I respect them.
ETA: As an Os fan I feel dirty calling a 5-5 stretch your "rough spot"

You should be excited, I've seen Lodolo a couple times and dude is filthy. Think y'all have 4 in the top 100, granted the top 100 being a thing for fans like myself. Haven't double checked. de la Cruz is stupid talented too.
