As far as I'm concerned, even if they scrape together some bullshite abbreviated season, this one is already lost. Any titles or championship would be so tarnished it'll need a huge asterisk, anyway.

I'm more worried about next year and the following with the union contract issues. Cancelled MLB TV yesterday and was told I'd be refunded (annual sub). No way I'd accept any credit toward next year, etc. because there may not even be one.

Outgoing revenue, of course, does go beyond player salaries. MLB estimates ~$500M in additional player costs: benefits, buyouts, signing bonuses, etc. When included with $1.432B salary, amounts to ~$1.93B, or ~70% projected revenue. The union disputes the $2.75B revenue number.

Following up, and I swear after I’ll stop mathing you: Had MLB actually proposed a 50-50 revenue split, that $500M beyond salary, an official said, would’ve been included. Which means that it has moved beyond the 50-50 in the last month, contrary to what I suggested this morning.

The MLBPA is making a proposal to MLB for a season of around 89 games with a full prorated share of salary and expanded playoffs, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN. It would bring the sides closer to a potential deal and is ~25 games under the last union offer.

Why would the players reject their own proposal?

Horsecrap. If the Reds win a 10 game season World Series title I'm acting a fool. It's been a long time man.

The players just reduced their total pay by somewhere between 20 and 25% and it's a NONSTARTER

The owners are officially clown world

What's this I'm reading about how Manfred could basically just impose a 50-game season at full pro-rated salaries? Does he really have that authority?

I've read that if he does that, a lot of the players on big, wealthy contracts would sit out.
