Zimmerman has family he doesn’t want to be separated from. He’s basically accomplished all he’s wanted at this point in his career. I think this is more a case of shifting priorities away from baseball entirely than being concerned about COVID.

I’m not sure whether I’d rather see Blake Snell’s arrogant mug on my television this season or see him play and then tear a ligament in the first start.

Zimmerman is an old rubbish player

he's played less than 100 games in nearly 6 years straight

The idea that they aren't playing due to covid concerns is total nonsense

quote:

As the opt-outs begin to filter out, some opt-out conditions that apply:

*A "high risk" player who opts out can later change his mind if the team physician & MLB joint committee approve.

*Any other player who opts out cannot return for any of the 2020 season or postseason.

he got down ballot map votes in 2017 and was an above average hitter in 18 when he was healthy. He might be out of his prime, but there is still at least a little value there for only 2 million

The bigger health issue is fricking up their arms not getting ready correctly.

Ian Desmond’s statement is going to be the only thing people talk about for the next couple of days.

He calls out players as racist/sexist with their jokes
He has a problem with lack of black owners
He has a problem with the fact they only have two black managers
He has a problem with MLB's handling of BLM

MLB has dropped millions into baseball for inner cities to fix the diversity issue but their is no instant gratification in baseball. The best kids are not walking from high school/college to the majors. Look at Kyler Murray, he went NFL because he had the promise of instant success and more money.

Wonder if Ian Desmond is as shooketh over the complete lack of white secondary players in the NFL or white small forwards in the NBA as he is the 8% of AA players in the MLB

Thing is MLB is the most diverse of any league in America.... They have players from all over the world. 20 different countries are represented in baseball

“He’s a decent player but he’s partially black so let’s pass on him and sign a mediocre white guy instead.”
