Julio Teheran did not participate in #Angels workouts yesterday and is not in camp today. Joe Maddon didn’t say why. Nor did he know if Teheran is in Anaheim.

I wonder how many players coming from other countries will get hung up somewhere in the travel process

Felix Hernandez opting out of the season for the Braves.

Was the 6th or 7th starter but this combined with Touki news will make it harder for them to piggyback every start first few times through.

Was lined up to be

Soroka/Tomlin
Hamels/Touki
Fried/Hernandez
Folty/Wilson
Wright/Newcomb

A couple pitchers short now.

Is there a deadline for these declarations of in or out?

Read where Buster Posey is seriously thinking about it. Seems most of the "opt outers" are guys at the end of the rope anyway.

Not sure what the issue is
If they don’t wanna play they don’t wanna play.

It’s their choice

How many Euro Soccer stars opted out? Seems like we have a bunch of pansies in America compared to Europe. Would’ve never thought that.

There's not an issue. Just making an observation that many of the players opting out have made a career of it and are about done. If any were going to opt out those are the one's that were expected.

This “season” is gonna be so wild. Almost any team can win the World Series with all the guys already opting out, the ridiculously short regular season and some untimely Covid positives. What’s the protocol for a positive test? 14 day quarantine? And the shorter “spring” training combined with fewer off days will undoubtedly lead to some injuries (hopefully just the quad/hammy/calf varieties rather than the ACL/UCL) with no minor league league games to pull guys from?

Could be a huge cluster, but will probably be really fun. But like the NBA championship, huge asterisk for the winner. Unless, of course, it’s the Braves.

Teams have a 40 player pool to pull players from and still start the season with 30.

I know it’s expanded, but what will players 31-40 be doing during the season? Not getting live ABs or throwing to live hitters. I’m sure they’ll stay as sharp as possible with sim games and such, but it’s not the same as real games, even AAA ones.

And will they be with the big team at all times or at their ST facility? Also, if there’s a big outbreak or injuries on 1 team, can they add to that 40 or swap guys out? Or is your original 40 who you have to ride with the whole way and just cross your fingers? And what about trades? There’s so much I don’t know. I really appreciate all your updates.

They will be doing intra squad scrimmages, working out, etc in a designated location so that they can be with the team within the day. Essentially what teams are doing right now in playing against themselves. Hence Tanaka getting hit yesterday throwing to Stanton.

Add Jose Urquidy. Dusty Baker said yesterday both of them have a “condition” that prohibits them from being at camp.
