Ken Rosenthal Verified account @Ken_Rosenthal

Free-agent reliever Cody Allen in discussions with #Angels on a one-year contract, sources tell The Athletic. Agreement believed to be in place, pending physical. Allen was looking for team that would give him opportunity to close.

Let's welcome back our old friend Tduecen who was recently paroled from Tigerdroppings E-Penitentiary.

What did he get popped for?

And i'm pissed Cardinals aren't in on Gray. He's going to be cheap, and he gives you more depth.

Half the starting staff are coming off injuries, and 4/5th of staff was on fumes. Also there is expected to be regression from Miles M.

I wanted the Astros to go after Gray but I was unlikely the Yankees would sell low to a potential post season opponent with high chance of a bounce back.

I don't want to research the numbers right now but I dug into Gray last year and there was some pitch usage changes that the Yankees made with Gray...I want to say it was something to do with usage of his sinker. Remember when he was with Oakland, he was an elite ground ball pitcher.

I couldn't help myself and I did look up the numbers. During his time with the Yankees, groundball percentage was down about 3%. Line drive percentage was up 4-5%. His fly ball rate stayed about the same as his career average but the home run to fly ball ratio rose about 5% during his time with the Yankees. That last part is surely reflective of the difference in home ballpark.

The massive Oakland Coliseum where the ball doesn't carry all that well in night games vs the Yabkee Stadium bandbox. We already know that Gray pitched way better on the road so put him the right ball park and he could have some success.

Gray had a 3.17 ERA on the road last year. 6.98 at Yankees Stadium.

As a Yankee fan I hate watching him pitch, but I know he will probably kill it wherever he ends up. Makes trading him tough.

I’d rather use him as a spot starter on the road to bring his value up some before trading him for pennies.

Love having DJ, big fan of his from LSU and will provide some defense.

Unsure on Ottavino, he pitched great last year but doesn't have the track record. Hopefully, last year was a turning point and he doesn't pitch like he did after the All-Dtar break which was mainly due to a bad August and September.

Gray needs to be dealt, Cashman has said he would since the start of the offseason and hasn't yet, I expected it before Christmas.

Cashman has internally discussed the possibility of attempting to put together a trade for Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado, according to SNY's Andy Martino.

Martino went on to say that Cashman and Rockies GM Jeff Bridich have likely already touched base this offseason, but neither GM has confirmed this

Yankees aren't getting anything premium or even a C+ prospect for Gray.

Dealing with zero power. Reds are looking to compete, not retool.

Yankees should of dealt gray at winter meetings if they expected anything over a c prospect in return. Now they want the 40 man spot, and him gone.

Heyman of Fancred reports (Twitter links) that the organizations are still discussing different prospects — Shed Long and Tyler Stephensonamong them — while a draft pick could also be part of the return. (That would have to be the Reds’ 2019 competitive balance pick, which is a valuable sandwich-round selection.)

Long would be a good get. Santillan is who I would target

I don't know much about the Reds prospects outside of Shed is #6, Santillan is their #4 prospect. Not sure Cincy would move him

We have a pretty good farm system. Guys like Senzel, Greene, India and Trammel seem to be off the table in any trade. Not sure about Santillan.
