I mean shite, the fact that the Dodgers are where they are right now after everything that happened in 2011 is one of the most under appreciated things

Cardinals Marlins deal for Ozuna reportedly took another step and is very close.

Guess I just don’t think of the Yankees as a rebuild. More of a reload that was really the effect of guys like Judge & Detances & Severino growing up, guys they already had

The 2 most recent WS champs were worst to first deals

I don't know how I feel about it. Don't think I'd call it a "rebuild" but I don't think it's easy to get to where they are right now when you are winning 80 to 85 games. You don't have the benefit of having a really valuable pick and you have to really draft well.

That's not to say that it's easy drafting at the top of the draft like the cubs and Astros were. Just that they at least have the benefit of knowing what direction they are going in and that at least it is theoretically "easier" than drafting in the high teens

There are a lot of guys who will be big time contributors to the Yankees next season (and even this past season) who weren't in the organization two years ago. Sure, guys like Judge, Sanchez, and Severino might have been the "core" of it, but the way the team has been built has been pretty remarkable. Especially considering how many of their top prospects they have been able to hold on to in all the trades they've made, and the overall cost effective way Cashman has been able to do it.

This is the underrated part. They never really came close to a losing season.

Rangers sign prospect Braves forfeited. I don’t know how good he is. Umpire Scott retires.

I know he’s bad injury problems but man I’d love Houston to find a way to land Danny Duffy. When he’s on, he’s one of the most underrated pitchers in the league imo

Deplete that farm system son

Would make the AL west pretty entertaining though

ETA: you’ve got Man City so I don’t feel bad for you if the rangers suck it up this year

Our best guy is like 18 and just got to AA I think.

I’d assume Profar would be included though. Maybe some guys not named Calhoun from the Darvish deal

You got to wonder if the Rangers are secretly shopping Odor. I would think Kela would be intriguing piece as well.

The Phillies have agreed to a deal with free agent right-hander Tommy Hunter, according to FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman. Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer (via Twitter) was the first to report that the Phillies were moving towards a deal with Hunter, rather than a previously-reported deal with righty Addison Reed that proved to be incorrect.

Cubs announce signing of lefty Drew Smyly to a two-year deal. He'll miss all of 2018 after having Tommy John surgery.
