I don’t necessarily disagree but if that shoulder gets wrecked again he may not be pitching period. Did I read about the rangers wanting to go to a 6 man rotation? Or was that only if they got otani

Also, I don’t think Morrow will close. They’ll get another guy

Article I was reading stated Ellsbury is happy in NY and wants to win back the CF job

Yeah I'm sure that's what he told a reporter

Although maybe New York tries to sell high on Hicks now after getting Stanton. Then it would make a lot more sense to keep Ellsbury. Hicks would be a nice piece in a deal for a SP

They been talking about going to a 6 man rotation since last season pre-Ohtani. But they certainly made it a point to emphasis that in trying to get him to sign.

Lester - they paid more for less years to minimize risk... which was a smart move. Both sides happy.

Yeah Hicks would, I think they try to move Ellsbury first since Hicks is under control cheaply till 2020

That’s the price you pay in an competitive market when your a piece or two away like the Cubs

A 2 year for 10 per in Tampa means you’re closing.

For the Cubs, I’m thinking setup man, which was still a pretty glaring need that was exposed late last season. Allows them to take Carl Edwards out of high leverage spot and move him to the 7th. Strop and Rondon when needed

Rondon was non tendered

Davis and Holland are the only free agents who would be better than Morrow closing IMO otherwise they would be trading for someone

When they let Jack Morris, it opened up a can of worms on pitchers. Just like when they let Gary Carter in.

That’s why I don’t like no trade clauses.

Theo has plans to meet w Davis’s agent at winter meetings, not ruling him out yet

I think they let arrieta walk and spend that money on the pen. Sign chatwood and a Cobb type. The trade rumors for archer and colome are out there, too

I dunno who would close between Colome and Morrow. It doesn't really matter, that's better than what they had last year.

Iglesias is the best guy possibly available I think, that's who I want Houston to go after

I wouldn’t be surprised if they signed Davis and traded for another RP tbh

I'd be surprised if he signs somewhere else. He has the connections with Maddon and Hickey.

Plus, he basically said that's where he wants to play.

Me too. I think the only way he doesn't sign is if the Cubs pull off a trade for a younger controllable pitcher.
