One of the analysts I heard talking about Ohtani said that he's going to have play in the field some to get the full amount of value out of him that he brings. The argument being that he won't really hit enough to bring value as a DH-only.

My guess is he ends up at pitcher full time. There seems to be a more favorable transition for Japanese pitchers than hitters. How many of Japan's great hitters have come over to the states and not matched the hype or production?
