Very curious what the Dodgers will give up. I think at least some short term salary that the Marlins may be able to flip.

Cardinals are out

Stanton would not waive no trade, so they moved on. Now time to make a deal with Rays for Archer and ?

Still have a nice pot of pitching prospects and OF to deal.

this is why i dont understand why the marlins are soooooo against taking any money on right now even when it will literally be off the books no later than next winter

they will be able to flip bmac if he stays healthy. they will be able to flip kaz if he has a rebound year. they would be stuck with agon but hes entering the last year of his deal. they can flip grandal for A LOT if they dont want to deal with his last year of arbitration

they can take on money from the dodgers to make it something the dodgers would want to do and have a decent amount of chance to flip the vast majority of the money theyd be taking on for probably a better group of players theyd be getting from san francisco

and if they cant, its all off the books next winter

It certainly appears it's Dodgers or bust for Stanton.

Hopefully the Cardinals will now go after Yelich and Arrieta.

The next 7-10 days should be very, very busy.

Pederson, Grandal, another salary dump, and a couple of prospects one being in the top 5 for Stanton?

i would go no higher than grandal, gonzalez or both of kaz and bmac, prospect in the low minors that isnt mitchell white or ruiz

i am not giving the marlins anything that beats what the giants were offering, which was not much at all

Marlins don't want to take on Salary

unless it's a 1 and done contract, plus ur going to have to put up one or 2 quality prospects for them to take on any cash.

But Dodgers would be asking them to take on more payroll using the players you or I listed as well. So a better prospect would be needed to get Stanton imo. May turn out to be a better package but offsetting for salary as the Giants were willing to take on the full salary.

yes. but if the marlins were willing to take on agon + grandal or bmac and kaz + grandal, the dodgers would be willing to eat almost the same 250 million that the giants were willing to eat. dodgers want to get under the tax right now, thats the hurdle

Yes... but the Dodgers were not asking the Marlins to take on much salary as Panik is only Arbitration eligible. So a bit different in that sense and yes I understand the Dodgers wanting to be under the tax, which is why I think they would have to add better prospects in order to get the Marlins to agree to the deal to take on salary.

so basically a trade with the dodgers would be a really convoluted multi trade for the marlins

we will be giving them expiring contracts that they can flip at the deadline to get basically the same package they would get from the giants, while the dodgers would take almost all of the salary off their hands

if they want to do that then i hope the trade gets done yesterday. if they dont bulge from their stance of not wanting any money coming back, i hope we tell them to frick off

Absolutely this, but I don't think they'll get anywhere with Archer. I don't think the Rays will budge on him.

Good news is that the Marlins aren't waiting for Stanton to decide before they start trading other pieces. And every conversation about Stanton was also a conversation about Ozuna and Yellich.

I'd personally prefer Yellich, but I think the Marlins are trying to keep him.

the cardinals had the best offer for stanton, this was already made fact.

Alcantra(top100ish prospect), and? take on 250mil-260 mil of contract.

Marlins accepted this deal.

I know the rumors with the Yankees involve the Marlins taking Ellsbury or Headley and then Clint Frazier being added as well.

If the Yankees make a deal I hope it is for Archer....

Severino, Tanaka, Archer, Gray, and Montgomery

would make the Yankees younger in the rotation and better, would block Adams or Sheffield though

I'm afraid they will deal for Longoria/colome

Longoria would be a terrible move, guy hits in Super Hitter friendly league and division, and struggled to get to 20 hr's. Over paying with prospects for him would be asinine.
