Dodgers hit every check for Ohtani.

-Winning franchise w/ WS aspirations annually

-He can remain in the same location

-They can pay his big fat contract

It's too obvious.

It would be cool just because I’ve assumed he’s going to the Dodgers for a year now. And the Dodgers are a top tier contender with or without him. Toronto has stagnated a bit and are at a point where they need to make some big moves IMO. But they have a very talented roster

Man, landing those 2 at the same time would change any team’s fate.

Except for the Angels.

While team executives are uniformly quiet on the sweepstakes out of respect for Ohtani, other industry sources with knowledge of the process say the negotiations are entering their final stretch with a small group of teams expected to meet with the 29-year-old and his CAA Sports representatives in Los Angeles this weekend.

Industry sources continue to view the Los Angeles Dodgers as the clear leading suitor for Ohtani, who’s already comfortable in the Los Angeles area after spending his first six big-league seasons playing for the Angels. Not only are the Dodgers one of MLB’s most consistently competitive franchises, the L.A. media market offers endless marketing opportunities.

Yet select other teams remain involved, and while Toronto Blue Jays executives have consistently declined to comment on Ohtani, others in the industry say they’re in a small group of clubs still pushing to land the two-time MVP. The Chicago Cubs are also believed to be involved, while the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Angels haven’t been ruled out.

Yamamoto's numbers are even better than Sengas....in Japan, and he's only 25, wonder if his stuff will tranlate as well here as Senga's?

Good question, in the one series I saw him last year the lineup gyrations were exhausting.

@bnicholsonsmith
Interesting dynamic as Winter Mtgs begin in Nashville tomorrow, while in LA there are meetings this wknd between Shohei Ohtani, his reps & select teams per sources.

Teams silent on Ohtani out of respect, but many see as LAD leaders. Also involved: CHC, TOR, LAA. Possibly others.

Dave Roberts just said on MLB Network that Mookie Betts will be "the everyday second baseman."

That's a little more concrete than I expected.

Eduardo Rodríguez's free-agent market is moving quickly, and he could reach a decision prior to Shohei Ohtani.

Rodríguez is in Nashville and has had multiple in-person meetings with teams, as @JonHeyman first reported.

Lot of chatter about Shohei and the Jays. The baseball media are going to come unglued if he doesn't end up with the Dodgers.
