Tampa with another move today

quote:

Three-way trade with the Dodgers, Phillies and Rays.

Phillies get hard-throwing lefty reliever Jose Alvarado from TB.

Dodgers get lefty Garrett Cleavinger from Phillies.

Rays get infielder Dillon Paulson and a PTBNL from Dodgers.

I don't know anything about the LHP Cleavinger, but Dillon Paulson is not much of a return. He's not in the Dodgers Top 50 prospects. I'll be intersted to see who the PTBNL is

Cubs trying hard to deal Contreras now.

The Chicago #Cubs, after trading Yu Darvish and non-tendering Kyle Schwarber, are now extensively shopping catcher Willson Contreras. Contreras is projected to earn at least $5 million and perhaps as much as $7.4 million in salary arbitration, per

Can’t pay someone $7M? Yikes. What an organization.

looks like an interesting lefty out of the pen that we have control for the next 6 years. I like the move

Control issues seem to be a thing but it looks like he has good stuff

So we'll have no pitchers or catchers. That's a good start.

Can Mark Cuban take this team off the Ricketts hands? Hate to see a family down like this.

Did the Ricketts all pick up a massive coke hat during the pandemic that they need to fund?

They’re just trying to put food on the table for their families. Give them a break.

I mean they need to reset as that vote was good but not great and expensive.....

Contreras and Bryant will cost more moving forward so beat to get pieces for them now build around Rizzo, Nico, Javier, and Heyward (whose contract is part of the problem)

I do too. It's not uncommon for LHP's to develop late, and Paulson was never going to play for us.

Helps that I've literally never heard of the guy we moved him for so as long as the PTBNL isn't interesting than I'm for it

His trade value decreases the closer he gets to free agency. The time is now to deal Contreras

Bryant and Contreras would fit perfectly with the Nationals

Veteran first baseman Justin Smoak is finalizing a deal with the Yomiuri Giants that will guarantee him somewhere in the $6-7 million, sources familiar with the agreement tell ESPN. Smoak, 34, will join a Giants team that won the Central League but lost in the Japan Series.

That's how Tampa survives, by making these kind of deals for top end prospects.

I would hope Padres didn't get rid of any players, except for lottery ticket prospects for a average player(darvish) making major bank.

Listen fellas, I met my wife in the bleachers so I'm a fan just like you. Buy Cubs Tickets! Yes, we have to offload some players but look, we hired fan favorite David Ross as your manager! Buy a Rizzo Shirsey! Plus we got all that awesome stuff packed into Wrigley Field! Now, don't fret and buy yourself an official DVD of the 2016 World Series. Don't forget to buy tickets for 2021!

Bauer vs Heyman Round 2

Heyman reports
quote:

Interested teams suggest Trevor Bauer seeks a 5- or 6-year deal for $36M to $40M (about $200M). Bauer is coming off a brilliant Cy Young season but the star market is slow. The record AAV is $36M by Bauer’s UCLA teammate Gerrit Cole. Agent Rachel Luba declines comment on talks.

Bauer responds
quote:

Jon thank god for you. I’m learning so much about my free agency from your tweets! Keep em coming! Also @AgentRachelLuba is her twitter tag in case you want to tag her next time.
quote:

Allllllsooooooo if you’re going to go out of your way to report that someone declines to comment you might want to make sure it’s ACTUALLY true (*it’s not*). Don’t you have to actually talk to someone for them to “decline”? Wouldn’t want to be fake news now would we Jonny boy?

Heyman
quote:

Actually it’s quite possible to decline comment by text, which is what she did.

Bauer
quote:

Oh. I see what you’re trying to do here. Sneaky

2nd time this off season the two have had words over Heyman reporting about Trevor

Bauer is strange. I’m not familiar with the first exchange but Heyman is doing his job here.
