Good discussion.

You win games by out scoring your opponent. I don’t give a damn about versatility or whatever other arguments they use to diminish Steph. Steph is the 3rd greatest player in my book after MJ & Bron.

I put Steph up there as well, but I don't see him as a true point guard in the sense of how that position was played for most of the league's history.
Point guards were primarily distributors of the ball and facilitators of the offense. Of course Steph comes along and changes that.
MJ's argument is good by me.

Steph is only a point guard because he would get absolutely blasted guarding some of these big shooting guards.
Hell John Stockton was a better point guard than Steph. Steph is the better player.

Steph is a SG not a PG (labeled as PG in the system offense they run, but he is a SG and his numbers back that up)

what's the most hilarious point in all of this, is that Stephen A just outed himself as an MJ puppet.
MJ directly texts him for his input on things and likely also voices to him what he wants said/not said.
Again...hiding behind a brand, not a career.
Take away the Jordan Brand and all we have is Joe Montana.

Big Steph fan here, but Magic is an more traditional and overall better point guard. Magic could defend multiple positions and score at a high mark even before the three-pointer took over. There aren't a lot of guys I'd rather have as a sixth-man on an all-time roster, and you can make an argument that if you're constructing a perfect starting five (not the five best players at their position, but a coherent starting five), that Steph fits in to some lineups much better than Magic does. But, as individual players, Magic is still better

There is no debate here.

Not really a bold statement; MJ telling us gold is valuable, water is wet and the DMV has long lines.

Pistol Pete is the GOAT PG

6-0
4-0
2 of the greatest coaches ever in their sport.
Pretty simple to understand.
Although Joe left the 49ers, went 13-3 and lost in an AFC Chip? meanwhile Jordan left Chicago and did mmm.... Kwameeee???

would love to see what Pistol could have done in different eras.

Best PG’s of all time
1. Magic
2. Steph
3. Oscar
4. Isiah Thomas
5. Jerry West
6. Stockton
7. Pistol Pete
8. Chris Paul
Magic is a top 5 player ever more than likely. I never could have put Steph above him, but recently the argument is pretty close for me, and I wouldn’t downplay someone saying Steph is better than Magic. West and Thomas are interchangeable but peak Thomas was one of the best. Stockton while not as talented as others has most assists and steals ever, has to count for something.

So all you’d have is a top player sure fire HoFer considered one of the best ever at his position. That’s not a bad floor.

Magic: MJ is the worst owner/baseball player off all time.

I hate this debate. Magic is not a PG. He's a forward that is the most gifted passer in NBA history. Leading a team or the league in assists doesn't make you a PG. Is Jokic a PG?
It's an unfair argument that cheats all the rest of the greatest NBA PGs. Kind of like how they try to call Tim Duncan a PF (he's a Center). Magic played in the greatest Era ever of PGs. He didn't guard any of them, he couldn't. I watched KJ destroy the Lakers. Hardaway, Payton, Price, the Goat PG (Thomas), even Stockton.. Magic wasn't guarding any of them. It's a gimmick.
All that said, Magic is the 3rd greatest player of all time. He just a forward, like Bird. Doesn't diminish him at all..

Things change when you compare eras. There are a lot of players today that are more talented than guys who were greats in the 60s & 70s.
