The only one I see surviving this outside of Jokic and Gordon, is probably Braun.

Gotta be something major they did to fire them so close to the playoffs.

You can purge after the first round of the playoffs.
If I’m a good NBA coach, I am not signing on to this situation next year.

Is everyone in the nba trying to out stupid each other? Is there some sort of secret competition for which owner/manager can make the most braindead decision?

Luka trade broke the NBA

And Willie Green is still employed
Memphis and Denver are trying to win championships and hope firing at this point will help them. Regular season basketball isn’t playoff basketball, which requires a different coaching skill set.
Green will be gone soon enough

Look at the Nuggets plus/minus when Jokic isn't on the floor. Nuggets are an awful team being carried by a historically great player like LeBron with the Cavs back in the day. Now you can blame the roster for not being that good but the impact of a NBA coach is how much they can get out of players who aren't stars, the secondary starters and bench players and the Nuggets have never gotten much production there.

Dogshit coaches in the NBA get multiple head coaching gigs and the good ones get fired weeks before the playoffs. What the frick

The problem is that they didn't fire Booth before he handcuffed the team to the giant Murray extension.

WTF is going on?
This is my take on what happened, as someone who has watched almost every Nuggets game over the past 4+ years and hears chatter from people with sources on the team and in the front office.
The GM, Calvin Booth, committed atrocities with their roster by taking the approach of drafting older college players with limited athleticism who he thought could contribute immediately. He chose this strategy over signing veteran free agents (or even keeping their own veterans like KCP) in the idea that the team would have control over them long term on cheap contracts. He then gave these players full contracts instead of two way deals and it really fricked the roster. Guys like Jaylen Pickett, Hunter Tyson, Zeke Nnaji are all on full NBA contracts and are absolutely not NBA caliber players.
He and Malone had a fundamental disagreement on this approach and Malone refused to play these players. Booth thought the lack of playing time is why the approach failed, when in reality these guys just aren't good enough.
This also fractured the locker room because the young guys started openly disrespecting and ignoring Malone, because they knew Booth would protect them. This led to the vets being pissed at both the young guys and the GM. So you have a team with no real talent outside of their starters, a locker room with clear divisions, players ignoring their coach, etc.
The only reason their record has been good is that Jokic has been doing an historic carry job.
Calvin Booth is incompetent and needed to go. I disagree with firing Malone though. Guy is a good coach and got put into a terrible situation by Booth's incompetence.

Draft aside, they don’t have a bench player on the roster that can shoot. Malone playing Westbrook in crunch time is nearly a fireable offense by itself though to be fair

Has any major pro league ever had 2 different playoff bound teams firing their head coaches with 2 weeks or less until the end of the regular season?
Possibly 2 of the top 5 seeds in the west with interim head coaches

Replace Jokic with an above average center and that’s not even a play-in team. The definition of a mediocre roster. I don’t know how Malone’s falling short

Grizzlies fired Jenkins last week.
They're currently in a 4 way tie for the 5 seed
