Mike is right. He knows that life is about the journey. Not the destination. This is why guys like Dame Lillard say he would rather not win a title at all than have to leave and form a super team. It’s not all about the title. If it was we would want Lebron in Houston next year. but like Lebron in Houston and Lillard leaving to make a super the title wouldn’t mean as much bc the journey to get it would be meh.

You think players that stick to this special honor code of "doing it the right way" are held in higher esteem somehow.

In reality, history just remembers them as players that couldn't get the job done. The league has changed from the past. You either change with it or stick to dumb honor codes.

Was Chris Paul on the Rockets last year or did he form a super team and therefore you won't be able to enjoy a title if the Rockets were to get one? (lol I know, but hypothetically speaking)

No one who's a champion or possesses a champion's mentality says this nonsense, could be construed as a self-fulfilling prophesy, very pitiful considering the 'offs haven't even started yet

They are held in higher esteem to me. I can care less what you think about them

Guy like Dame would rather not win a title than leave to make a super team. He has loyalty to his city and his guys and the title wouldn’t mean as much if he can’t win it with those people. Bc the title is not as meaningful to him if he has to take the easy way to get it.

I think the Rockets have to get to the WC Finals or it will diminish the regular season. If they do that and lose to a Warriors team that is healthy and back to form in a competitive series, then I agree that the Rockets should still be proud of their regular season and use it to build on next year.

Having said that, this is a golden opportunity for the Rockets to win it all. I've never felt that they were good enough to do that until this year.

Houston is not super team. Super team is three guys. Not 2.

I've had this feeling that the Rockets are a regular season team all year.

They're about to prove it in the playoffs.

Haven’t seen this posted anywhere:

Mbah a Moute dislocated his shoulder again last night. Not sure how long he’ll be out for. The Rockets’ road got a little bit tougher.

If that's true (which I don't believe it is not matter what he says), then he's not playing this game to win. That's his ego talking. He's playing for all of the other stuff, which is fine. But don't tell me how he's a true competitor. True competitors will do whatever they have to to win.

When you're a true competitor, ego doesn't get in the way of winning. It's my personal opinon that Dame's just saying that as a defense mechanism. No one wants to team up with him so it's easy for him to say things like that.

And it's definitely been a feeling because you've been caught throwing out statements like the Rockets just use up-tempo that other teams don't want to deal with when we are bottom half of the league in pace.

If I had to guess I’d say he misses one round. Depending on how long it takes the opposing Rd 2 team to finish off their series.

It was literally just tweeted out before you posted that he’s expected to miss round one.

That’s the second time in the past couple weeks that you just happened to “guess” about something the minute after it was tweeted out.

I have a feeling that's because y'all get big leads against tanking teams and the 4th quarter is slowed down.

You either:

A: Don’t watch them play

or

B: Watch them play but aren’t able to analyze what you’re watching.

There is no other explanation for you to come to that conclusion.

Damian never said that he wouldn’t allow players to come play with him. He said he is not leaving Portland to make a super team. Big difference. He is not gonna turn his back on his city and his organization to seek out an easy title. He wants to win with his people. He’s a competitor.
