If the NCAA had evidence any games/teams were illegally scouted before then, it’s absolutely tarnished.

It’s college football and anything could happen, but what do you think the chances are that the Michigan team that beat Ohio State, Penn State, Washington, and Alabama without cheating would’ve lost to one of those first 6 opponents?

Their schedule was so easy that year too. They weren't challenged until November. By then, all this had already come out.

Probably small. But they wouldn’t have been doing it if it didn’t give them an advantage.

And I’m not going to act like beating Kyle McCord at home was impressive

So does this mean it's not actually a "fine," but it will be assuming they'd actually make the postseason?

I disagree about 23. They still went out and won after all this came out. Harbaugh was suspended for 3 games at the end, and the truth is your team or PSU could've put a stop to them but you didn't. They won those games plus the playoff games fair and square.

They aren't good in 2023 if they don't cheat in 2021-2022 to get good transfers and recruits. 2023 can't live in a vacuum

That's my thought on it at least

Moral of the story herer, cheat your fricking asses off to win. The NCAA is a feckless organization and condones cheating.

The Wolverines avoided a postseason ban, but were hit with a series of fines that could exceed $35 million

on top of the postseason fine, there is an additional fine of 10% of football budget and football scholarships. So their total fine could be closer to $35m

$35m fine is a HUGE number. Probably one of if not the largest fines ever administered by NCAA.

Whether you think they got off light or not, $35m is a crazy large fine, regardless how much money a school has. Even if one donor ponies it up, no matter how you slice it that’s $35m that could have gone to something else within the program.

And for those saying they weren’t going to make the postseason anyway, the fine still applies… it comes out of their conference payout regardless whether they make the playoffs or not

How do we not do more if there was intentional destruction of evidence.

Spoliation of evidence is a serious crime (far more serious than stealing signs if we are being honest) if it was in court. Not in court so can't go down that route but this is shockingly bad

It is a massive fine, but they are paying more than that on average to put a team on the field in 2027.

That is a check from one donor

It's not cope.

It's literally what the report said. It said they cheated in 2021-2023.

Again, I'm happy because it confirmed what we all thought

Ncaa just let everyone know that sign stealing is okay.

It is also no longer needed most of the time thanks to the NCAA allowing C2P for play calling.

I know this. They should not be allowed into the post season.

Than why did you say it sucks for the younger players that had nothing to do with it? You must be having an old person moment.

The ncaa just stated in the press conference what buckeye06 failed to understand:

Direct quote just now:

vacation of records is only in play when ineligible competition. That wasn't a factor present in this case. It was not a penalty that could be considered, and did not impose it.

This is why the OSU tattoo case was different. It involved ineligible players

Central Michigan is not out of the woods yet. They allowed Conor Stallions to be on the sideline against Michigan State. They will get the two year post season ban.
