They've had great success the past couple of years only to lose (in a noncompetitive fashion) against Georgia and then they really dropped the ball against TCU - a team most thought that Michigan should handedly beat.

Sure, they've proven to be the better team between them and Ohio State the past couple of years; however, I believe most would still suggest that Ohio State is still better off in the long run.

In addition, the Big Ten just got that much more difficult with the additions of USC and UCLA along with Fickell to Wisconsin and Rhule to Nebraska.

Now, with the cherry on top, we have strong reports that Harbaugh may make a move and flee back to the NFL.

As a program, where do they go from here?

All depends on this:

If Harbaugh leaves, they’d likely just promote Sherrone Moore. If I were in charge, I’d do whatever it took to get Kalen DeBoer to Ann Arbor.

Should he stay, do you think he can ever get it done? Most assumed they'd beat TCU. However, they're viewed as an inferior Georgia - in style of play and talent. I think we'd all agree that Georgia would have won handedly, again, had the two played.

He won’t be a good NFL coach. He should stick to college.

He was 44-19 with a Super Bowl appearance good.

He already has a been a good NFL coach - he had a pretty incredible winning %age with the 49ers

Not sure how he'd do now but he's already proved it

Meh, this has happened the last few years. It strikes me as a defense mechanism.

Notice that the last three or four years, the minute he loses to Ohio State or blows a bowl/CFP game, you suddenly start hearing the “Harbaugh attracting interest from multiple NFL teams” rumors.

Michigan should be an annual CFP participant with Jim Harbaugh. They have a competitive identity on both sides of the ball. On the flip, I'm not sure if Michigan can go through these rumors year-after-year. At this point, it's a matter of 'when' for Harbaugh. Could be the year with Denver and Indy open.

Speaking of Harbaugh and the NFL, I wouldn't be overly surprised to see him bring Jimmy Leonhard with.

At what point do we just acknowledge that maybe, just maybe TCU is pretty good??

TCU is a team like the tOSU team that beat the storied Miami team for the title circa 2002, they always find a way to win even if they aren’t given much credit.

I don't know, that offense still needs to take a step forward.

Harbaugh isn’t leaving unless:
A) He does not like the recruiting game
B) He is going to have a REALLY bad class next year and wants to go out on top.

NFL money aside, why would you leave your alma mater if you think you’re the best coach for the job.

They are good, but they did get a lot of help throughout the year. They had very close games against SMU, Kansas, Oklahoma State (2-OT), KSU (OT), Texas, Baylor, and Michigan. With the exception of KSU, TCU won those games, and that's what ultimately matters.

By get it done, do you mean win a championship? hard to say that, because theres so much luck involved as well. ( Just look at UGA almost losing last week except for the missed FG.) But i think harbaugh would have UM back in the top 10 annually and a few playoff births if he stays for his whole career. (actually should have them in a lot of playoffs with the expanded format) Thats all you can really ask for.

Let me put it this way, Who could Michigan hire that would do better? I cant think of any off the top of my head. Big 10 can no longer go undefeated in a weak conference and then win a rose bowl vs Pac10 and claim a championship. It goes through the SEC for the foreseeable future, and expanding to a 12 team playoff will make it harder imo.

Harbaugh is a post-season choke artist. They need him to stay to remain relevant during the regular season, but they gotta find a way to troubleshoot his god-awful post-season coaching.

I don't really care about the other meaningless bowl games. They got killed on some opt outs.

Georgia was just way better last year.

He had a couple of terrible decisions the other day. He loves using this stupid mooseback that rarely carries the ball and I knew it was going to cost them at a critical point. Just sneak JJ four times. The trick fourth down play was also terrible. Should have kicked.

I basically wanted a win against OSU and a conference championship every three or four years. Mission is basically accomplished after the last two seasons.

I don't blame him if he goes. There is some chatter that the totality of NIL, portal, recruiting, and conference changes has soured him on college. He gave Michigan twice the time of any other stop. The upside to the job is that he is the king in town, has a lifetime gig, and it will be easier to make the playoffs in two years.
