for 2024 UFL season

i will give the first game or two a watch, but im not expecting much.

they had everything they needed to make it work, but instead, they kept only the bad things from each league, such as disbanding the other 8 teams they needed just to make it watchable.

i am expecting it to barely make 1 year before bankruptsy at best.

only having 8 teams means it will never work no matter what they do

I’m not sure what other things you’re speaking of when you say they “only kept the bad things from each league”, but the idea that only having 8 teams is a bad thing is wrong.

That will give them four nationally broadcast games per week. I’m not sure how long the season is, but they can easily work out 10 or 14 game schedules with that number. The quality of play should be better as they aren’t as deep into the player pool.

Last season while each USFL team had a city attached, they basically played at hub sites. This year teams will play in the home cities.

If the league does well, then they can expand to ten or 12 teams going forward.

That logo is horseshite.

The USFL relaunch could have been so good but they just ruined everything after the original retro names, unis, and logos

Wanna bet?

FOX owns 50% of the league.

With the proliferation of sports betting around the country, this league is going nowhere…even if the average attendance is 5,000/game.

It'll go a full season, but it will disband after that.

And then in five years, some other fool with money will try to set it all on fire with another spring football league, even though the data time and again shows that people actually don't want football played by talent-capped players in the spring.

I’m not 100% about which rules they kept and which they didn’t.

RE the eight teams, I will say that initially I felt like you did that it was too few. But, upon reflection, the smaller league after the merger does make sense.

It seems like a bunch of other folks in this thread are trying to be edgy or wish-casting the failure of this league, which really sucks. More football is not a bad thing. The idea that the league has an agreement with the NFL to test rules and some of the other innovations they are bringing about are good things. There seems to be internal debate as to whether the league wants to be a minor league/feeder to the NFL or be a professional stand alone league; and I can see both sides to that argument.

What is edgy or wish-casting about the inevitable?

I disagree it’s inevitable. Are they facing an uphill climb? Sure.

Obviously the fact that people keep trying it means they think there is a chance of success. It’s just about doing it right.
