Every few years we get the next once in a generation talent who will hopefully live up to the hype and become a baseball legend. The last one was Harper. The new one is Blaze Jordan. Disregard that the link is bleacher report, it does give more background about him than other sources I've found.
Bleacher Report: Blaze Jordan
Bleacher Report: Blaze Jordan
quote:
"To me, he's like a young Bob Horner," one Mississippi-based scout says. "I'd heard about him, so when I got to see him in a tournament in Atlanta, I really paid attention. First game, he faced a really good pitcher. Boom. Home run. "As a 13-year-old, he hit two 500-foot home runs," says Brian Domenico, who founded and still runs the Showcase. "As a 14-year-old, he competed with all the top high school players. He hit 23 home runs, including one that went 504 feet. As a 15-year-old, he competed with the top college players and missed making the finals by one home run.Domenico says the best comparison for the electricity in Jordan's right-handed swing is that it's like what Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. had from the left side. He compares the focus and energy to what he saw from Harper and Kris Bryant, another Power Showcase alum.
But Jordan isn't Harper. For one thing, he doesn't run like Bryce. He doesn't talk like him, either.
This is Bryce, age 16, in that Sports Illustrated story, talking about his goals: "Be in the Hall of Fame, definitely. Play in the pinstripes. Be considered the greatest baseball player who ever lived. I can't wait."
This is Blaze, age 15: "I try to stay humble."

Kid needs to lay off the cheeseburgers

Yeah, no college for him, wondering if he will do the Harper thing and get his GED so he can get into an earlier draft. Based on the difference in their attitude, I would guess no.

He's 15....still carrying baby weight

He has something weird with his back foot. Not as natural as Bryce at his age. He is gonna have to correct that or fastballs will eat him up off the plate.

500 ft bombs at 15 yrs old is no joke.

If he's that good, then he should quit HS, get GED, and he can be drafted in 2ish years.
Harper didn't waste time in HS, he got his GED, went to JUCO to play baseball and get draft 2 years earlier?

According to Statcast the longest HR last year was 495 feet by Aaron Judge. He may be a great player, but there seems to be some exaggeration in that article.

He did it with an aluminum bat I would guess. Harper did the same

MLB stadiums also keep the ball from going further. I doubt there were any stands behind the wall to stop it's flight path on this one. Thay one judge hit the ball was barely on a downward trajectory when it hit the bleachers and the distance tracker stopped. But I still doubt 500 ft.

Or he could just enjoy being a high school kid and take the other stuff when it comes.

quote:That's not how it works. The homerun distances are estimates as to how far it would go if it wasn't stopped by objects in the stands. It's an estimate based on where the ball lands and how high it was hit.

Yah, not feeling his swing. I wanna see how he hits when someone is actually trying to get him out.

There's lots of videos of this kid hitting on YouTube. I think the one below is from when he was 13 hitting at (I believe) the ballpark at Arlington.

Kumar Rocker was getting huge hype three years ago when he was bigger than everyone else, and dominating. Everyone else caught up, and he isnt even a top 10 prospect for the 2018 draft now.

Didn't think they projected it. Many times you'll see a certain distance and then they'll show a projected one after.
