Elementary/JR high football is no more dangerous than any other sport. 10 year olds don't generate enough power the cause any damage. Statistically, your daughter is way more likely to sustain a serious injury (knee, back, neck, head) doing gymnastics, tumbling or cheer leading than your son playing football.

He might have been being sarcastic but being involved in little league baseball, I still see coaches letting kids younger than 12, throw curve balls.

My wife works at Andrews and I'm reminded of this shite everyday...because it's the truth.

Did you not see that video of Fournettes “kid” hitting than other kid. And that was peewee. Kids definitely get concussions in middle school.

Yet it took thousands of years to figure out a game that included violence.

There are dangers associated with playing football, but i think alot of it is overblown.

I think the biggest reason CTE is so prevalent is players used to get concussions and they would stay in the game. Players would have multiple concussions and they still continue playing. The real key to increasing safety is educating players on head injuries. If you get up from a play and you feel light-headed, said player needs to go to sideline immediately to the team doctor (all schools should have trained medical professional on the sidelines at all times).

Eliminating pee-wee ball under 12 years old will be a start. No reason for 5 year old kids who are nothing but walking bobble-heads to be playing tackle. Develop flag leagues in it's place.

Do this and I truly believe you will see a huge spike in CTE cases down the line.

Another thing that folks dont realize, alot of these lasting head injuries are coming from folks doing it to themselves.

I remember I had a guy on my team whom his pre-game routine was to slam his helmet into the wall 10 times.

Or about when guys bang their helmets into each other as a way to get hype.

I have always thought this type of stuff was stupid, but it was very common. Folks did it to show how tough they were, but they not as tough as they thought.

Took my 8 yo out of football and put him into pitching classes. He’s trally developed a nasty curve. Makes kids look silly out there. Best decision I could have made

An 8 year old doesn’t need to be throwing curve balls....he’ll need Tommy John by high school

Then again I’m 5’11” and 185. I would get crushed playing football. I’m not blessed with genetics to take on someone 6’3 and 240 lbs with 4.5 speed. Football is not for everyone.

So what stands out in your 12 year old that makes you think he can be a D1 athlete?

I know I went to the doctor with constant headaches and seeing black spots. MRI showed lesions in the brain. Neurologist told me a big study was done and the majority of people who played football from young age to HS have them. The majority of people who didn't play football do not have lesions on their brain.

This is not the poli board bro, no conspiracies in football media. Maybe return to the CFB betting thread and lecture us all on statistics and probability some more? Nvm you suck at that too.

Makes sense, right?

Throw in Disney / UFC and soon to be CBS / Bellator.

Throw in all of the male-centric violent TV shows and movies these media corporations support and pay for.

These media corps just tearing down masculinity.

ETA: Hold up. Is this an example of the “victim mentality” I’m always hearing the politards rant about?

Actually may be on to something
The only media conglomerates tearing down football
Are the ones that don’t show football.
All in a ploy so one drops it, so then they can show football
