this isnt 5 years ago. the streaming market makes new markets irrelevant. its about brands and brands only.

UNC is a huge brand, same with clemson, fsu and miami.

This is not true.

This is pretty smart.

Doesn’t invade any other footprints in current SEC.

Agreed. If the SEC is wanting to expand their "footprint", then UNC is a pretty solid choice IMO. I'd add UNC and Virginia

If the SEC doesn't want to expand their "footprint", then Clemson and FSU/Miami make more sense.

The brutally shite part is LSU would hardly ever play these teams consistently.

Just add SMU. They knew how to play with the big boys back in the day

I'm sure Texas & Texas A&M don't want SMU in the SEC

Once the realignment is finished there won’t be an SEC anymore. Slapping a false label on a product doesn’t make it real.

So in a West / East arrangement the Miss schools, Arky and we’d be ejected to play in the Big 12? Maybe they get so big they have to revert back to the “pod” concept

Ive lived there, know alot of people there, and been to UNC football games. LaTech has more fans go to their games and tailgate than UNC does. We dont want fanbases who golf clap just because the quarter ended.

Catholic High has more fans go to their games than UNC does.

I want NC, Duke and Gonzaga so the SEC can try and take over basketball like they have football and baseball.

North Carolina, is not.

Uh, not sure I follow your logic criticizing my post

I live in NC

and said Clemson would make more sense moving to the SEC than UNC...for a host of reasons but one would be that Clemson is "south" or more southern

"Southeastern"=

No it doesn't. They SEC is already in S Carolina

Uh, okay

the conversation was about moving UNC to the SEC

I said Clemson would make sense over choosing UNC....

it's 2 hours from South Carolina in Columbia SC

In a 10-team division, everyone has nine conference games against the same opponents. No more cross-divisional games where LSU plays Florida and Georgia while Bama plays Tennessee and Vandy.

Miami makes more sense because of their TV market.

Would make a great rivalry for Florida

Distance doesn't matter. Money does.

It's a weird hypothetical topic because we wouldn't just take 1 school.

To be honest if the sec does expand I think obvious choices are Clemson & FSU.
I do think we make a play for Miami, and a combo of either UVA/GT and/or UNc/Duke.

Va Tech isn't joined at the hip as much as other rivalry schools are.

I do however think if we get to some huge conferences then NC state and Va Tech would join in. Their fan bases would fit in easily with the sec plus added cool destinations to travel.

People who keep proposing a 20 team SEC based on just east and west haven't taken distance north and south properly into account. Which is getting stranger and stranger the more northern the expansion spreads.

Columbia MO is a good deal closer to Tuscaloosa than Baton Rouge. This is why Missouri made as much sense in the east as the west. I would think eventually common sense would dictate NE, NW, SE, and SW divisions if they expanded to 20 or 24 teams.

Whatever the final solution does need to balance the divisions or pods by travel distance and powerhouse programs (big six + OU, Texas, others?).

Sixteen teams is already a lot. We have yet to see the working solution for how to handle scheduling for even that many.

TV markets are no longer the biggest driver of conference expansion. The Big 10 and SEC learned that with schools like Rutgers and Mizzou.

It’s all about the brand, yo.
