Not one huh?

what about the Packers loss to the Vikings earlier this year in which Aaron Rodgers was injured.

2011: The Saints losing to a winless Rams squad that hurt them in the playoff seeding that year.

what about all of the recent SuperBowl losers? They all seem to have a hard time the following year. The 1990-1993 Bills aint walking through that door, Max.

so they aren't anymore? what's with this "were" shite?

Kellerman sounds like he watches less CFB than I do.

i live for CFB, don't care 1 iota for NFL. that being said, two of the three points that max made are always true, not just a recent phenomenon

also, not sure why CFB would cause NFL ratings to decline. they don't compete for the same airtime on the same day

Yup.

I think people just watch what they want to.

fRESH take.

personally, I've been to more college games this year but have probably watched more Pro games on TV.

some of these comments by media people are extra silly when brought to my attention.

they have to fill their air time though so God Bless'em all!!!!!!!!!

Do you enjoy seeing the same 3-4 teams in the playoffs every year? That's essentially CFB in a nutshell. Boring is frick.

I can get a Max Kellerman level analysis from five seconds of reading this board.

Might explain why sports media is suffering.

1. College football teams are different from each other. Last weekend, Miami's speed destroyed Notre Dame's power, Oklahoma won in a shootout and Wisconsin grind out another win to stay undefeated. In the NFL, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference from one team to another if the uniforms weren't different. Plenty of NFL teams are different in philosophies

2. Injuries have hurt the quality of the NFL. Too many good players are not playing due to injuries. Injuries happen just as easily in college

3. Stakes are much higher in college football. Miami, Auburn and Oklahoma were playing to stay alive in the CFP race. There isn't a single game in the NFL where teams can't recover from a loss. The four-team playoff is a perfect system and allows for consequential games every single weekend, the stakes are just as high when your team is in the playoff hunt

The reason college football is better is because the players are not as refined as the pros so there is more uncertainty in every play. The officiating is hurting both.

College Football is big in the south. Overall youth numbers are down everywhere but the South. NFL, and football, will continue to trend downward because of today's youth.
The youth of today :
A. Aren't playing it and
B. Aren't watching it.
They are watching YouTube videos instead of watching live sporting events.
Now the South is different. They still love football but the rest of the country is falling out of love with it. Plus the South was built on college football. NFL teams are really still pretty new to the area as far as generations go. Plus they have usually been terrible

I thought college football ratings were down due to the dominance of Alabama

Kellerman is an absolute moron.

CFB has been superior for as long as I can remember.

They play on different days and the product isn’t any better than 5-10 years ago. The only thing that’s changed is protests.

Didn't watch the video, but here are my reasons why CFB is better:

1.) Recruiting is better than drafting
- Recruiting is a year round process. It keeps the fans engage through out the year. Plus the U changed college football forever
2.) Saturdays are better than Sunday.
- The great thing about college football is the Friday night before the game. The town's population begins to swell in the afternoon, people are out and about fraternizing, bars are filled to brim, people are setting up their tailgates on campus, a small bit of grill smoke lingers in the air, and everyone is having a good time. Then Saturday comes and it is an all day party for some. You don't get that with the NFL on Sunday. Hell, I'm ready to leave work now!
3.) The pageantry
- It is a very flawed beauty contest, but it keeps you on the edge. Go to any message board and there are multiple threads about the ranking show. It keeps you engaged from beginning to the end. Is Wisconsin legit? Is Bama overrated? Is tOSU better than we think? Is the U back?

That is what makes CFB great. You don't get that with the NFL

There are a lot of reasons NFL ratings are down. CFB being superior isn't one of them.

The why does the NFL get better ratings that CFB? That's a pretty big hole in his argument

Just speaking for me, it does. I watch a good 10-12 hours of football on Saturday then feel I need to do anything else on Sunday

One of he bigger difference is college football, thanks to espn, has so many games on all day long. It makes for an exactly viewing experience.

Over-saturation is definitely one of the issues.

College football is superior b/c the game you want to watch is always on TV. It doesn't rely on an outdated, network driven, restricted regional broadcast schedule.

I am fed up with trying to stay invested in the NFL when they keep showing me the same teams every week. The modern TV viewer expects a myriad of choices and the NFL has been prohibiting that since the days of black and white. Just having two games on in each Sunday afternoon timeslot every week would be a major improvement.
