Heaven forbid, adults making what the market says they are worth!

I don't care what they're paid. I just want structure and boundaries for everyone to follow just like every other sports league in the world. I don't want the wild west like what we have. You want to be paid to play. Fine, sign a contract and be forced to play under that contract for however many years. Coaches have to and if they want out, they pay an exit fee. Players in pro leagues are under contract. They don't get to "take their talents elsewhere" whenever they feel like it.

I also think it would be hilarious and a wakeup call if college players could be traded. Could you imagine signing to play football at UGA and then being shipped off to Akron on a whim because they had a strong safety they wanted?

Probably have to double that to get a stud to go to a campus that’s cold as frick, boring as frick, with nothing but corn beef farm girls to impress.

In this case, the market is not free and it’s drunk.

I always thought that Herm Edwards was a below average coach

Why doesn’t Warren Buffett buy the Huskers a bunch of good players?

Oh nvm, he made his fortune investing in winners.

NOTHING amateur about the situation. Paid professionals with unrestricted free agency. Period.

The NFL should be paying these kids in their own minor League system.

comrade? If we're going to treat them like pro athletes, why not actually treat them like pro athletes and structure college athletics like pro sports leagues? It's like calling a spade a spade is a 4 letter word to people who think we're dealing with amateur student athletes. Because they certainly aren't anymore. Just let the schools pay athletes directly as employees of the school instead of dealing with the complexities and ridiculousness of NIL, collectives, and transfer portals. If the market says a college player is worth $10 million dollars, that's fine. Just sign them to a 4 year employment contract for 10 million dollars. Contract employment exists in all areas of business, including sports and entertainment.

Does wanting some semblance of parity in sports make someone a commie in "real life"? Just seems like an off base comparison. If you believe in democracy, does that mean that your kids have an equal say to you in your household? Obviously not.

they should have followed up with how much a good coach costs?

Has nothing to do with the schools and everything to do with the NFL. There is absolutely no incentive for the NFL to fund a minor league system when college football has a multi-billion dollar industry they put on for them at no cost to the NFL.

Your reasoning is that other sports leagues do it?

Who cares what other sports leagues do? They all have wildly different rules regarding contracts from each other anyway so it’s not like your solution even brings cfb in line with them.

What’s wrong with private individuals/businesses footing the bill?

I’m good on my state not spending my tax dollars to pay some kid to play football at a school I don’t care about. Let the local car dealer handle that if he is so inclined.

I really hope they didn't pay that much for Jeff Sims who they got out of portal last year

he said that was the rate for a good QB. They probably got Sims for a bushel of corn and a box of envelopes
