Oh so people were rooting against rory because they like rose so much?
Seemed people were rooting against rose when he had the day 1 lead as well.

You realize that had he lost Justin Rose, from England, would have won, correct?
Rose is the most posh Englishman since Monty. Rory is a fricking Floridian

Breaking news: people have athletes and teams they like, and ones they don’t. Shocker, I know.

They sure were. And as someone who likes Justin Rose I certainly didn’t lose my mind over it.

For me personally, I thought he was a prick when all of the LIV stuff went down. He was overly vocal about it and about the golfers who made the choice to go to LIV.
he was doing that on behalf of the PGA tour

I think he was rightfully pissed at the guys who left and blew absolute smoke about it “growing the game” and then bashing the tour on the way out
If you remember he never blamed the money, even said Saudi money is smart money to be involved in, and never bashed guys like brooks or DJ who simply left while not bashing the tour
The entire narrative for some on this site that the “liv guys were angels and did nothing” is wild. Some sued the damn tour and many bashes the shite out of it as they left

Rory got chesty and inserted himself way further than he ever intended into that situation and kind of got his arse handed to him. He didn’t like the heat once he got in the kitchen. Water under the bridge, i never really gave a shite.
He should be furious with Jay for pushing him into that position though.

I’m not saying that the LIV guys are angels or anything like that. I just feel like Rory got very mouthy and hyper-critical, as though his voice and opinions were above all others.

Scottie basically did the same thing.
They both rightfully (IMO) pointed out how dumb it is to be mad at PGA Tour players over the division in golf at the professional level, when it was the LIV guys who chose to leave.

I guess the “right” thing for Rory to do was just take it up the arse and let LIv players trash the pga tour and everything about it on their way out and not respond when asked about it?

Remember when Phil Mickelson started a new professional golf league and said the PGA is stashing many millons of dollars that should be going back to the players? Remember when after Phil Mickelson's league started pulling good and young talent that the PGA all of the sudden found many millions of extra money to give back to the players and created "no cut signature events" that looked similar to Phil Mickeslon's new league?

Nah
Come on man. He white knighted for the Tour at Jay's request. There's a reason he said he felt betrayed or hung out to dry (forget his exact wording) by Jay/the Tour. Jay had him front and center taking up arms and then got thrown under the bus.
To this day i still don't get how Rory can stand to be around Jay. Dude did him dirty.

In Tiger’s defense, both the PGA and the USGA mandated multiple hole playoff formats. Masters is now the only one using sudden death, and I kinda expect that to go away in the future.

I remember the pga tour having to go into their reserves to find extra money and then forced to go into a deal with a private equity group as well to get additional money to cover the extra purses

Difference is you can qualify for the signature events and they feature 70 of the best players in the world.
LIV has about 5 great players, 15-20 good players, 10-15 decent ones, and a bunch of washed up or not very good guys playing in them.
They did find more money, but they had to adjust the way they structured the Tour. Yes, there’s more money for the players now. Why tf do I care about that? That does nothing for me. Congrats to them for being rich.
The LIV players acting like they lived some miserable life on the PGA Tour was insane. Sorry you made millions of dollars playing golf for a living. Prayers up.

The LIV product has had some good events and some really bad ones. The bottom of their fields is pretty horrendous. However, LIV has produced some monumental changes in golf, and most for the better. The changes the TOUR has begrudgingly made every step of the way has made the product better.

Even if you make a shite ton of money, if you’re underpaid, you’re underpaid. The TOUR not letting guys have their own media rights and disallowing them doing things like YouTube was right up there with the NCAA as far as level of incompetence

Bubba Watson is about the worst player on LIV and he just finished T14 at the Masters.
The PGA players need to tighten up.
Just kidding on that one.

Speaking of players in abad form finishing high, max homa finished 12th and qualified for next years masters
That’s wild considering he wasn’t even playing at Tour card level the last 6th months

Yeah, gritty performance from max

Tiger and Jack and many others would have been middle of green and easy two putt for win.
I know we get swayed by recency bias, but Tiger’s been in that position before and made bogey on 18 from 171 yards in the primary cut (and 17) before winning in a playoff.
