he's a linebacker
exactly. You'd expect the GOAT LB to have more than 1 sack & 5 TFL. It's not like his tackle totals are setting records either. He's just an average LB who is getting hyped as the Greatest & most Decorated LB of all-time simply because of his INTs this year.....and cause he plays for ND

And I'm not cheapening or discrediting his INTs. 7 picks is damn impressive, but again should Not make him the Greatest. It's not like he's averaging 7 picks per year. He had 0 last year, and is still not all that impressive in all other areas. He's a good player, and now the most overrated of all-time

I'm definitely the farthest thing from stupid when it comes to football.

I wasn't one of the people who was hating on Te'o in this or any other thread.

If you took my post breaking down his INTs as hating on him, you were mistaken. I agree with you that timeliness is a very key component of takeaways, regardless of how they fall into a player's lap; however, while he is a great player, undoubtedly, it is my honest opinion that the incredible amount of honors Te'o has earned are by products of playing on an undefeated Notre Dame team and a down year for individual defensive playmakers across the nation.

It's the Heisman, it's generally always great players on high profile teams. There's no sense in bitching about it

great points LE

People are reading way to much into his sack totals... Obviously ND doesn't exactly use him to pressure the QB and prefers him to stop run and drop into coverage.
Dude is a tackling machine and unquestioned leader of that defense and while many may feel he doesn't deserve the awards he has them so let's just bitch about it

I'd rather have more tackles. I'd rather have 15 more tackles for a loss. I'd rather have 7 more forced fumbles. I'd rather have 11 more sacks.

All in fewer games played

Eta: just for the record, Te'O has more tackles than Jones fwiw

Nice deflection

Had uga played in more high profile games, and taken care of business, and had he not missed 2 games, we'd prob be talking about Jarvis jones

7 INT's OMFG that is the most amazing thing that happened this year! He gets a major college award for each one? Seems legit

USCe?

UF?

Bama?

All are better than any team ND has played.

Why does it matter if he missed two games? If anything it is MORE Outstanding that he missed those games and still had insane numbers like this.

He actually missed 3 games.

How does it hurt? Well it's 3 less games of exposure and stats.

And bama was the only really hyped game of those.

Florida has a poo offense and even tho record wise had a strong season, they were completely boring this year.

I'm not even going to entertain SC as a high profile game.

Yes those 3 teams are better than the teams ND played. But that's not what I'm talking about. High profile= media attention. Again I'm shocked people don't know how this works

Florida probably had the most exciting, non-boring year out of any college football team. Even our cupcake games were entertaining

You're trying too hard to play devil's advocate, btw fwiw tbh imo

He had 0 total coming into this season.

If you include this year, he has 7 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.
