BREAKING: The USC job is Luke Fickell's to turn down.

After Fickell, Bob Stoops might be waiting in the wings,

Take fickell. Throw the bank at him and don’t take no for an answer. Bob Stoop sucks. You don’t want him.

Fickell has never coached outside of Ohio. The only evidence that he's even been outside of Ohio for more than 24 hours at a time is when he very briefly played for the Saints. Just seems like a strange fit- not the kind of hire you fire your coach in week 2 for imo

LSU would like to offer Ed, both his sons on the staff, his various slam pieces and a pot of gumbo.

Throw in a gift card to Raising Cane’s and you got yourself a deal.

Not surprising. Not sure where Fick goes and this is a top 5 job in a great recruiting state with less pressure than the other top jobs

I know USC is a destination job, but Fickell has something going really nice at Cincinnati, plus the Bearcats are set to join the Big 12 and P5 soon, i will be curious to see if Cincinnati counters with a pay raise for him and he stays at Cincinnati. USC is tough to turn down though.

He does have something nice but he will always be second fiddle in his state, if not worse. OSU is the college football power in that state.

Now that LA has 2 NFL teams and UCLA may start being good (we will see) USC may not be the biggest game in town anymore though, so does he mind being second fiddle absolutely in Ohio, or will he want to try to bring USC back to the forefront.

You can't turn down the brass ring. Brian Kelly didn't when Notre Dame came calling. When has Cincy been in the playoffs or sniffed a MNC?

There's a one-off ceiling with Tulanes, Hawaii, even Boise State (which got closer than anyone) and he bolted for Washington.

I love the rumors that come out as soon as a coach is fired.

I'm not entirely convinced he takes the USC job if it's offered to him because of this.

Is it? There's probably 20 better jobs out there.

Top 10 last year and barely lost to UGA in the Sugar. With Notre Dame and Indiana on their schedule they have a legitimate shot at the playoffs this year.

I wonder how much having 2 nfl teams impacts the relevance of usc in Los Angeles

I don’t see Peterson or Stoops leaving retirement and Fickell doesn’t seem like a fit in LA. My early bet is O’Brien.
