The 1996 Independence Bowl was a post-season American college football bowl game at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana between the Army Cadets and the Auburn Tigers on December 31, 1996. The game was the final contest of the 1996 NCAA Division I-A football season for both teams, and ended in a 32–29 victory for Auburn, after Jay Parker's 27-yard field goal went wide right.

Army was down 32-7 starting the 4th and almost pulled off one of the greatest comebacks. The last time Army finished the season ranked. Was really wanting Auburn to lose.

2013 New Mexico bowl where Leach didn't QB kneel to secure a win. He's right on some things and this wasn't one of them.

The 1997 Indy Bowl, LSU vs ND. Gerry DiNardo has just hiredLou Tepper as DC and our defense played great. I guess the “drop linebacker” concept was not installed before the bowl game. Rondell Mealey (replacing an injured Kevin Faulk) had a hell of a game. I also hung out with Kevin Mawae at the tailgate before the game.

This was back before Saban and we were just happy to get to the Indy bowl, let alone win it against a national name like ND. Now that our expectations are more in line with Bama instead of someone like UK or USC (South Carolina, not southern cal), lesser bowl games are not as fun.

1998 Alamo Bowl - Drew Brees leads a comeback against #4 Kansas State. The same KSU team was one win from going to the inaugural BCS title game.

2011 Alamo Bowl - Heisman winner RG3 leads Baylor to a 67-56 win over Washington. Highest scoring bowl in regulation I believe.

I can't believe I can't find any pics or video, but for the 1998 Humanitarian Bowl on the smurf turf, they removed Boise State's orange endzones and replaced them with team specific endzones for Idaho and Southern Miss. Obviously not unusual for bowl season.

Problem was, they just used regular green astroturf. So you had a blue field and green endzones with black and gold letters.

2006 Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve

Hawaii 41, Arizona St. 24

“This game received extra attention because Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan was poised to set the NCAA single-season record for touchdown passes in a season. Entering the game, Brennan had 53 touchdown passes, one short of University of Houston quarterback David Klingler's mark of 54 set in 1990. Brennan finished the game having completed 33-of-42 passes for 559 yards and five touchdowns, setting the new single-season record at 58. He shared MVP honors with wide receiver Jason Rivers, who tied a school mark with 14 receptions and set a record with 308 receiving yards, the most in a college bowl game since the NCAA began keeping official records in 1937.”

ASU led 10-3 at halftime. Brennan threw 5 touchdowns in the 2nd half.

I was there. Last sporting event I attended with my Grandpa. Weather was crap for Mobile and everyone left when Marshall was getting killed. My Grandpa said we weren’t leaving.

I’m glad he made me stay...

One of the first Michigan bowl games I remember was the Bluebonnet Bowl against UCLA. It was apparently in the Astrodome.

I also remember Sparty getting dismantled in a Sun Bowl and some of my MSU friends blacking out early on NYE because of it.

This game makes my list because watching Chris Spielman rage all game about how terrible the defense was might be the funniest broadcast I've ever seen.
