UTSA was game today. Coaches milked more out of this team than I thought they would get. 7-5 is a good season for them. Harris and McCormick are big time.

Great season for the Cajuns. Coulda folded today but didn’t. Attention turns to Napier now...

Great season. See y’all in next season’s Cajun MSB threads.

First Responder Trophy looks hilarious. Hazard tripod with a light on top.

Good to see UL represent the boot with the state's only bowl win, 10-win season and projected Top 15 finish. Job well done in an 11-game season.

ESPN and almost all of the other media outlets are calling them by their desired name. They’ve proved under Napier that they are deserving of the name. Keep up the winning and they’ll hang around the top 25. Maybe sneak into a NY6 bowl here and there like Boise used to. Put Lafayette on the map for real. I don’t see how this is a threat to LSU.

If a bowl game is played in Dallas at SMU’s stadium, why can’t Lafayette host a bowl game? I think Lafayette can host one.

Cajun Field in 1971

Cajun Field today

It's not a desirable venue.

It’s a dump. Very close to having the west side deemed structurally unsafe.

There’s bowl games in as equally shitty or worse stadiums. The one that comes to mind is Shreveport Memphis and Birmingham’s. I mainly mean this as I think the city of Lafayette would be a good host with all the restaurants , local shops and music that they could put together. Downtown Lafayette decked out for a bowl game would be cool. It’s obviously gotta be G5 teams like Mountain west vs MAC or CUSA. Maybe get a stage set up outside of cajun field with some local cajun artists playing music. Locals and visitors would enjoy it.

Most aren’t. It’s more about the city and everything outside of the game itself also. Outside of nola Lafayette is easily the next destination for tourists.

I actually do think Lafayette could be a cool city for hosting a non-New Years bowl game.

But like previous posters have said, our stadium is embarrassing, and there's no money for any real renovations. In fact, I've heard due to structure integrity it would likely be better just to start from scratch.

Where's Hey P. Long when we need him for a football stadium??

Well it’s that ridiculous upper deck that just needs to go. It was unnecessary in the first place. You take that out and you’re in good shape to have a 45-50K quality stadium. These days in the G5 and for these type of bowls , you don’t need more than 50K and some nice upper level and on field suites.

Hey, just like I said about the whole OLOL hospital fiasco, LSU can’t help what their wacky booster die hards do to come up with money. UL just needs to get some baws in office in BR to establish a presence so they can get a money pipeline to Lafayette for these types of things in athletics.

Not possible in this day and age. There would be outrage from certain segments, and the dealing would get nixed.
