How is 5-7 “bowl eligible”?

Teams with losing records have made bowls a bunch. If there aren’t enough teams bowl eligible then teams with losing records can make it. They take a bunch of shite in to account and one of them is region of the team. Since Ruston is an hour away, it just makes it easy to slot them there because it won’t cost much to house them/transport them.

La Tech had a good defense this season, but didn’t a number of the starters enter the transfer portal?

So Marshall let their coach walk because they apparently didnt like him… and so many players hit the portal they had to drop their bowl game??

What a joke of an admin … might be worse than Tech

Tech is absolutely dog shite. I was shocked they even got 5 wins this year

The defense wasn't that bad (except last play of Jax St. game), but they lost almost all of them to the portal. Lost quite a few close games due to Cumbie's ineptness. Don't know what they'll field on defense for the game ?

There were just enough 6 win teams to fill bowl slots this year. With Marshall out you have to go to 5 win teams which then get pecking order by academic progress report. There were a few teams ahead of tech in the pecking order but with them being on the quarter system they were likely the only school with players still on campus.

Also, how many teams have ever gone 5-8?

UCLA came close. 6-8 in 2011. 6-6 but made the pac12 championship because USC was on probation. Lost that and then lost their bowl game.

Marshall could have found 100 guys on campus who wanted to relive their HS glory days. It would have made a great movie.

Classy move by tech to sacrifice so that the army players can have a bowl game.

Have an upvote.

Army deserves a bowl game, they've had a great season.

Wouldn’t it be better if they just cancelled this game?

A 5-7 team in a bowl game is the ultimate embarrassment and shows why these games have to end.

And the second they do your dumbass will be crying about how all the tradition is lost in college football.

It would've been epic if they replaced Marshall with hometown Centenary in their 1st college football season since World War II this year. That would've drawn a crowd imo.

Could the Sun Belt sue Marshall? The conference will miss out on a cut of bowl money I presume? I know it was a Covid season, but lsu barely had a team going into that Texas bowl against k state. I don’t think pulling out of the bowl was ever a real option.

Why are you just now ranting about this? Happens every year . Tech doesn’t deserve to be in a bowl, but Army sure as hell does. Talk of cancelling is stupid.
